We live in civilisation in Yorkshire; not relative civilisation. Relative civilisation doesn’t say much; even Lancashire is relatively civilised.

 

As in “Lancashire is relatively civilised in comparison to Yorkshire?”

One or three 'pithy' comments from various members about us 'urban elite' Yorkshire folk. There are quite a few new entries in 'The Book' (red ink)

 

You can talk. I’ve stopped in the ‘Palace’ at Rolvenden. I even helped put the roof on to make it more habitable.

 

This just goes to show how wrong the southern perception is. Got to agree about Essex, though, having been there once.

It is compared with what it used to be. My wife is from Lancashire. I took pity on her and took her in. Now has honorary Yorkshirewoman status and is proud of it.

 

There are some good people in Lancashire, I know at least 3.

 

The line is too far north!.When you approach the Dartford crossing the signs say 'To the North' and then you reach Essex.
