It should be the black 5, and austerity...

I've not been involved this year, but from what I understand, plan A was black 5 on the Continental stock (10.00 and 13.10 of WF) and the austerity on the mark 1s on the other 2 departures. However what happened in practice was the black 5 hauling all 4 services, whilst the austerity, or Thomas last weekend, acted as Wansford station pilot, shunting rakes and steam heating

The Peak and the class 14 have both been used on the Wansford end of the sets as well.

Just watched the proceedings at Wansford- the lunchtime Santa must have been packed judging by the amount of people using the crossing.

For the record, it seems today is 45212 plus the 14, with Thomas on shunting duty.

I saw two of the runs yesterday - the first run of the day from Wansford was worked by 45212, with Class 14 9529 on the rear, ready to lead back from Peterborough.
The second run was worked by the Austerity o-6-oST, again with 9529 on the rear.

Incidentally, both leading locos only carried one head lamp (on opposite sides of the lower lamp irons!).

The '5' looked, and sounded splendid.

No knowledge of NVR operating practices, but my guess is that if the train is top & tailed, this allows the single lamp to be the tail lamp depending on direction, with a dispensation for an odd headcode at the front. It would save a great deal of faffing at each end.

Could anyone advise when the 5 is due to leave, presumably back to Keighley? Thanks

That's great news. Is there any update on Tinkerbell's overhaul?

Overhaul essentially complete but awaiting running in and fettling before a return to traffic.

Seems Austerity has injector problems and won’t be involved with the remaining Santas. 45212 will work the trains and Thomas will perform carriage heating and station pilot duties. Nice bonus for the youngsters.

They’ll need a Time Machine to achieve that

Fantastic. That's me watching Railcam all day - along with several others, I note!

Noticed the railway has 656 down for passenger services on 10,11,14,21 February ( subject to usual caveats of course)

Just seen it with four of the Continental carriages at Orton Mere on Railcam. It's a lovely sunny day here, I'd go out and take a photo but the car's in dock :(
