Kevin has been adopted by KRM. She is looking an awful lot healthier than this time last year. It was discovered when she was taken to the Vets around the corner, that her original owners had left over 2 years ago.

That’s nice to hear I’m guessing that Kevin is Kiddy’s chief of pest control?

For those interested, my video from a busy and eventful day on the Festive Season Service. Despite 'Omaha' failing part way through the day, Hagley Hall was ready to take over :)

I was (pleasantly!) surprised by how busy it was! And by the need to queue to collect pre-booked online tickets as we thought we'd arrived in plenty of time and found the queue out the door at Kidderminster and standing room only on the first train of the day. This seemed much busier than I remembered previous Festive Season Services being? Is this the effect of the free return tickets offer?

Thanks to all the volunteers for a great day out despite the challenges!

I also really enjoyed another chance to see 'Omaha' running - I love that chime whistle - which features prominently in this video!

Yesterday (28th) was much busier than the previous two days, though those days were hardly quiet. Yesterday being the only day I was not volunteering/busy, I decided to go for a walk and ended up walking to Bewdley and between Hampton and Highley. I would have done the other walks if the weather was better and the river a bit lower. And I ended up standing on train on all legs.

Today was the Winter Diesel Day and was also very busy. Most trains departing Kidderminster were busy with a few being standing room only.

Certainly not named after his father is she? :)

Wouldn’t be the first time someone’s buggered up the gender of their pet, our little ones sibling was originally going to be Mabel then we found out she was a he and she’d bought and made a load of stuff with the letter’s M and C on it, so Mabel became Merle… (I have feeling though that that name be be female in French?)

Well Merle Oberon was a very famous actress in the golden age of Hollywood… went out with David Niven for a long time then married Alexander Korda (IIRC)

    Hello,

I have a question that has no doubt been asked many times, but I just need some guidance...

What is the best way to get to Bewdley tunnel? I've been looking at how you get into the nature reserve off Gauld Avenue. Is that the best way?

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated

Yes, or you can walk in from Blackstone picnic site car park (though it's a bit longer).

I’ve always walked from Blackstone picnic park but did assume there must be a quicker way just never looked it up, is it an obvious path down from Gauld Avenue?

There is an entrance on Gauld Avenue which leads down to a path that runs along from the main Burlish Top nature reserve. There is a less obvious path from there on down to the field by the tunnel which is accessible via a 'kissing gate', but when I was last there that part was very overgrown and a bit of a scramble.

There is a public footpath and the path down is off that.
You can miss the turning , I did the first time and ended up the other side of the tunnel. Have Google maps open so you do not go North of the tunnel would be my suggestion.

No problem. Just checked, and I took a couple of photos while I was exploring. The first one shows the way on down from the Burlish Top path, the second shows the newly-installed gate at the bottom. You can see in the latter why it was a bit of a scramble! P1020546.jpg P1020547.jpg
