    Email just received from RTC

We are writing to you with regards to your booking on The Whitby Flyer on Wednesday 27th March. Due to operational difficulties regarding access to the North York Moors Railway, we are unable to run the train as originally planned on Wednesday 27th March and so we have taken the decision, so as not to cause too much disappointment, to bring the date of the trip forward to run on Wednesday 20th March.

We have automatically transferred your booking to Wednesday 20th March for you, to ensure that your seats are held.

Busy week now this tour then KWVR gala the day after

Wonder if it was a pathing issue - 20th March will be before the main NYMR running season starts, so presumably they won't be running meaning there are more paths available for the charter.

I suspect that is exactly it. LSL are running tours to Whitby on exactly 2 occasions this year - 5th March and 9th March, then nothing for the rest of the year.

We will be running into Whitby, just not on the usual paths. Reassessments of crews needs to happen before the main season starts

I imagine this will be both Riley Black 5’s working T’n’T as it is now the week before the Jacobite starts

How does that work with a diesel needed for the aircon/CDL?

Unless you take the North Yorkshire Moors to mean the railway rather than the National Park, I am unsure what you mean.
It is the only way to get there from York isn't it?

The picture is clearly New Mills - I very much doubt the train is going anywhere near there?

When the train started from York a few years ago we went York-Darlington (rev)-Middlesbrough-Whitby returning via Yarm.

Never even looked at the picture in that way, they rarely relate to the route, but understand your comment now.

The points at the north end of Pickering platform need replacement. Light engines can use them but all trains currently are using platform 2.

Just received tickets. Top & tail steam & diesel due to "operational issues". What a cheat. I decided to book despite the "coffins" as at least with steam on either end there would be no diesel shovage. Very disappointed and annoyed. RTC you just lost my loyalty

The Mk2s require a power supply for the air con and the door locks, and WCRC seem very reluctant to use their generator car, so a diesel is on the only option. I'm guessing adding a diesel in to the formation as well as two steam locos makes it too long. Not really RTC's fault.

Unlike the previous trip it never did say two steam locos as far as I am aware.
