Regardless of what Brittanica thinks East Anglia goes as far south as the river Stour therefore Essex is not part of East Anglia. Essex is part of the Home Counties and from land transport point of view Burnham on Crouch is closer to East London than it is to East Anglia.

Has the sale to WCR actually been confirmed and her spirited away to 10A as yet, equally has 45110 ever actually left the SVR and gone to 10A?

45110 was seen on a low loader . whether it has been seen at 10A is a different question . Re 5593 no reports and if it is sold I will shed a tear for an engine that to me was synonomous with Tyseley through my childhood . but equally as the movement adjusts to the new economic and volunteer reality's we are going to see more and more of this

I asked Michael Whitehouse a few weeks ago about the locomotives that were for sale at Tyseley and he stated both had been sold.

I suppose on that basis it will become clear where she is going when she rolls up somewhere on the back of a low loader, albeit knowing WCR's ability to spirit locomotives into Steamtown without anyone apparently noticing despite the rather tortuous road access, it could be anyone guess.

Being a little mischievously speculative, I note that 5043 is going over Shap on the 15th March, going onto the train at Carnforth. I wonder whether the positioning move on the 14th March (I assume) from Tyseley to 10A may include a red surprise sandwiched between 5043 and her support coach? ;)

I would have thought that the check necessary to allow it to run over NR, possibly including lifting it off its wheels, would be more expensive than hiring Allelys to do the job.

Who knows Bodmin (10 years ago!!! Whatever happens to her) came up by rail after a long time outside whilst 45593 has been inside, albeit IIRC that wasn't without problems??

I think a lot has changed in 10 years. Bodmin is in store at Carnforth, not sure how far down the overhaul list it is. There was a story that it’s boiler was going to be swapped with Tangmere, I don’t know it that was done

Was it not given 34073's boiler?

34073's frames were sat outside for a period of time without a boiler, they haven't moved but now seem to have a boiler on them which possibly suggests that some manner of change has occurred. As I have noted in another thread there is a boiler visible at 10A but it has been suggested that this is the boiler from 44767, another occupier of the black hole.

With 3 WC/BB's and 3 black 5's now in the fleet who knows what chopping and changing may be possible (Albeit I suspect there are variations in the 5 boilers?)

Yes there are, 5110 has a short firebox vertical throatplate boiler which is not interchangeable with the other engines with sloping thoatplate boilers. Some earlier locos had the frames altered to take the later boilers but I doubt if 10A will go to the trouble of doing that. It’s a similar case with the Jubilees, Leander and Galatea are long firebox engines, Kolhapur has the earlier short firebox boiler.

Easy to see if it is the boiler from 44767, it was fitted with the later style with the top feed on the front ring of the boiler
