I'd love to read more about the carriage restoration work you are doing but can't seem to find anything on the L&B website. Any chance of a link to the relevant page?
    Thanks,
    Ray.

And this is why in my view the 3 trustees need to turn up at the EGM,with their own legal advisor, and put a stop to these games the 6, plus 1 are playing, if neccessary have the meeting deemed illegal, with no legal standing, as the calling was flawed, as they were not consulted as trustees, and therefore the other trustees are not fulfilling their legal duties, follow this with another egm, charging the other trustees with bringing the trust into disrepute, and get them thrown off, then at the earliest opportunity, sack the secretary, and investigate the alleged wrong doings by the 6.

I think the majority of your posts attempt balance on top of an increasingly unstable fence. You’re attempting I think to find some middle ground, but you will ultimately be disappointed because the Chairman and his clique do not want to find it too.

I shall patronise OSHI for hopefully a restorative lunch, and have booked a hotel in Lynton for Saturday night in case the discussion before voting on the resolutions goes on past when the light fails. And I hope we shall be allowed a discussion in a situation where amendments will not be tolerated - it will be Yes or No for this draconian change in the articles, all ready one assumes to prepare for actions and proposed elections and re-elections at the AGM only 7 weeks afterwards. This bludgeoning through of a major change in the Trust's rules, which should be considered between two AGMs before being put forward for decision is totally undemocratic, and on this point alone why me and my wife will be attending and voting against all three resolutions on principle. This is no way to run a Charitable organisation.

You may want to think of taking a sleeping-bag as well and ordering a takeaway dinner ......:)

My wife has made clear that more critical interests than the L&B are at stake if we're in Lynton that late, before driving back to Lincolnshire.

More seriously, I assume that the meeting is limited in duration by being held in a public hall - I would assume 5-6pm

For those of us who live too far away and/or are unable to attend, I hope that someone who will be attending will broadcast an update asap (followed soon by “further and better particulars”) on the crucial vote about the Articles.

or at the VERY least, a mega-large-giant pack of popcorn!
The Trust has booked the hall between 1 pm and 6 pm

To plagiarise...."Some people say that the L&BR is a matter of life and death, but it's more important that that...." :)

Assuming that the vote at the meeting delivers an outcome, I'm sure an update will be provided. Given that there are 3 motions, but only one piece of paper, I can see the counters having challenges getting it all done in time

My wife applied to join the Trust over 3 weeks ago, although the pack has yet to arrive, despite email exchanges, due she has been told, the non-availability of a Magazine. They have been told that she's already read that, so no problem. As you can imagine it did cross my mind the delay might be due to the offensive things I have been writing on here which might have caused her to be treated like Anne Belsey, but perish the thought ! It looks like some of the proxies will use copies, so I will photocopy my ballot form if it doesn't arrive. Otherwise she will have to go to Arlington Court or Rosemoor again. Oh, and we disposed of the sleeping bags, and the tent, many years ago and mortgaged the cat.

A serious question - has the cheque been cashed? Depriving a paid up member of their vote because of the magazine isn't yet available would be an interesting position to take

Isn't it more likely to be a function of the register of members at the date the Notice of meeting is sent out?

If that were clearly the point, I'd agree. But - and I stand to correction - if all members are entitled to vote, then a delay in circulating the papers to that new member following her joining at the least looks poor.

And, yes, I am aware of the provision that states that the failure of notice to one member does not void the meeting.

I re-joined the L&B late last year/early this year after a lapse. Other than a membership card I've received nothing else. (Not even a back-issue of the magazine, which would've been nice.) Looking at the card the other day, I noticed that it expires in April! This is despite the website claiming that 'new applications made between 1st October and 31st March will also remain valid for a full year from the following 1st April. So by signing up on the 1st October, you would obtain 18 months membership for the price of 12.'

I had a similar experience about two years ago, when I again re-joined after a much longer lapse. Again I purchased a membership towards the end of the year. This time I received the 'correct' card which expired April the following year, but come August/September I got an email saying my membership had expired and I needed to renew. At least I got a few magazines that time!

I know of several members of long standing who are yet to receive their EGM notices, some despite emails/calls to the secretary.

She paid by credit card on 25 February. Nothing happened so she emailed. Not a good look, frankly, even if this is done by volunteers. I presume the Magazine they are talking about is the one that came out at the beginning of January - No 132. The next isn't due til May.

That’s dreadful. It may of course be a woeful Royal Mail rather than L&B, but still not good
