Do we know what happened to 44932? I thought that had been returned to service?
I'm also unclear the status on 46115 Scots Guardsman which may now be out of ticket?

None of the 10A fleet apart from Tangmere is air braked.

That's true but are they otherwise operational with active boiler tickets?

Email just received from WCRC stating the Dalesman of 23 July has been cancelled. ". . we had hoped until the last minute to be able to secure the use of more Mark2 heritage carriages with CDL, unfortunately this was not able to come to fruition on this occasion, therefore we have no alternative but to cancel the Dalesman on 23rd July 2024." Disappointing for all concerned, Oswald has been thwarted yet again!

Look on the bright side. You may have been saved from a stuffy experience on a summer's day. All the evidence from travelling in the set down south is that, as the owner has said, Mk2's with air con may not be the best choice when the temperature outside may be highish.

Passing Carnforth yesterday on the train and all of the previously heavily used Mk1 set (the coaches with the names) were still all stabled on the lines at the south end of the site (where the mail coaches were before they were scrapped) which suggests that nothing is happening with them at the moment.

I'd have been standing shoulder to shoulder with you at Ais Gill if today had gone according to plan. We packed all the gear last night, got up early this morning to set off, checked the weather forecast for the area and bottled it. We still aren't dried out from the soaking there a couple of weeks ago. :)

With the rain bouncing off the engine and stock (and my brolly) David Blair works the return 'Pendle Dalesman' 1Z52 off Denthead Viaduct back to Lancaster with Craig Todd on the shovel and Matt Miller Guard

At Carlisle I asked Mr Blair for some whistles on the return, back at Preston I spoke to him again and thanked him, on behalf of those of you at Ais Gill, for obliging.
