My phone works equally well as held for portrait or landscape modes, switching automatically as I change its orientation. I believe this is the case for any "smart" phone. If youngsters cannot cope with this flexibility, they must be as stupid as some claim.

If you squint a bit and turn it through 90 degrees and you might start to see the correlation…;)

Is it? How many locos on the network are running with no external water treatment and relying on manual addition of treatment with a very high pH? Get this stuff in your eye and you're in trouble. As opposed to having an automatic system with equipment that you could make fairly cheaply yourself.

The fun comes when some software looks at the orientation tag in the metadata and then conspires to cock it up...

Could we get back to Tornado please. Is it still running in at GCR or is it on its way to Tyseley?

I hear there’s an outside chance it may appear on GCR services this weekend - zero guarantees though.

The wider water space requirement may be related to the stay material. On the old WR (and with current practice), the rule was to change from steel to copper stays when you reached 3/4", otherwise the inner ends would burn away. A wider water space would give a greater cooling area for the stay and possibly allow the use of steel at 3/4" and above? If you have good circulation anyway, a wider water space is probably not going to make a great deal of difference.

Hopefully the A1 Trust will be donating the steaming fees to the Nene Valley but I won’t hold my breathe

Why do you think there are steaming fees involved? The loco has gone to the GC at the owners request as part of its re-commissioning. It is the GC that is providing the facility and, if normal commercial terms applied, would be asking a facilities fee. (I’m not saying this is actually the case, though.)
