Have buyers been found for the other items for sale? I noticed the GWR Brakevan and Pullman car Carina were outside the Carriage Shed at Horsted Keynes on Sunday.

TBH I am a little surprised that a working railway would sell a usable ballast hopper.

Don't know if buyers have been found. I don't think a move over to the other side of the station is particularly significant either way in that regard; it is more likely due to the needs of the Platform 1 rebuilding works at Horsted Keynes.

I don't know the why's and wherefore's. At one point we had five dogfish. Two were sold to the Rother Valley Railway about ten or twelve years ago, but if this one goes, we would be down to just two.

It may be serviceable as a railway vehicle... but in terms of its ballast-drop mechanism, whilst it has been used until recently, I believe now needs some work done.

The GWR Toad has been the subject of a sale by tender process amongst the many railways who enquired, and we are now awaiting confirmation of the outcome of that process.
The putative sale of 'Carina' last year has not been followed through, and my understanding is that the shell of this vehicle is again available.

Pullman Car Carina left the Bluebell Railway yesterday and was seen heading east on the A27. The website says it has gone to 'another heritage railway'. Does anyone know for certain which?

Having spoken about P-way work recently with members of another railway, I think some organisations are finding it more convenient/efficient to place ballast by the bucketful using a road/rail digger and trailer. Using a hopper wagon gives less fine control of exactly where material ends up, typically resulting in overspill and much manual shovelling to get it all where it needs to be. Doesn't help if your ballast hopper doors don't fully close once opened either. May be some more ballast hoppers coming on the market in future!

Oh, 6 wheeled bogies :) - how wonderful. I hope someone goes for them.
We had one on the KESR, Cambria, and vandals set fire to her :(

Were these not quite severely chopped about from their time as a restaurant?

For the first two I listed I believe so; the third is AIUI structurally complete.

The positive is that I believe a lot of the internal marquetry survives, though the rest of the interiors (chairs, tables etc) are gone.

Sadly, I suspect the intersection on the Venn diagram between "has the capability to overhaul one or more of them", "has the money to overhaul them" and "has the operational need for them once running" might be rather small ...

I think I saw photos of 43 and 102 when they were removed from the restaurant and it was not pretty. Certainly cant think of many parties will throw money at a trio of luxury carriages that have a very narrow field of operational possibility. Better chance of parking all three side by side and building a lobby to connect them all.
