Hmm, well I was planning on only buying when the loco allocations were out. At least you don't have to specify you starting station.

I've updated the first post, but the timetable is now on version 3.0 - mixed set now changed to freight.

Wow. I've bought a ticket for the Thursday, as it's the only full day I can do. Tickets are the same price as the other days for a day on which you can only ride behind 3 locomotives if you're based at Grosmont? Seriously?

Am I reading it right? The S160 only does 1 round trip on the Thursday on the freight, one round trip on the Friday with a Black 5 and nothing on the Saturday and Sunday.

Hmm, not particularly appealing as it would be Saturday only for me (work Thursday/Friday and then poor public transport on Sunday).

Re 2253 looks like a case of too many locos for too few trains

Why are there only 7 steam locos out on the Thursday, then? Had I known that, I may have made different plans. Only 4 of them are pulling passenger trains, and the 9F only does the last train from Grosmont to Pickering, which doesn't cross with any other passenger trains.

Just a normal timetable on the Thursday with the freight in the spare path

It's a little odd that it's priced the same as the other days.

The gala fares are the standard fares, the just don't attract the annual pass benefit.

Thursday is excellent ..multiple runs out of the two real visitors ..and several decent members of the homefleet get a run out too ..climaxing with the 9f at the end …not sure where they are with stock but 13 (5,5,3) in use on Monday …the damaged ones and teaks still OOS and I don’t see the Bo’ness supply covering for too many of those …then the moaners can moan about the lack of seats or front windows …

Excellent for a warm up for the main event but not so good if it's the only full day you can do ans you've been looking forward to the gala for months.

I know that pain. Having done galas at GCR and ELR recently you have an almost constant stream of services on all days where as this feels like I'll be taking a book for the Thursday for between services.

The GCR normally operate fewer locos on the Thursdays of their galas - normally just the visitors plus one or two of their own fleet (i.e. basically the same as the NYMR). The SVR do the same (e.g. today was 44932, 45596. 11456 and 4930, with 2999 on goods).
