I suspect they will be similar to Built at Brighton but set C will be what was set D at that event, and set D will what's was set C, so

    Set A 1503-21246-4941-1818-25728 (LNWR Obo + Mark 1s)
    Set B 2526-5768-6686-1336-1309 (Bulleids + SR Maunsells)
    Set D 114-3360-3188-1098 (LCDR 4 wheelers + SE&CR 100 seater)
    Set C 3064-35207-34556-3069-16012-4957 (Mark 1s - Crimson and Cream)

Is it known which loco is the train engine on Saturday’s doubleheaders?

Our normal practice is that the first engine listed will be the lead engine.

I've not been keeping up at the back, and only saw the timetable an hour or two ago when the Bluebell Railway Weekly round up arrived.

Wow, Friday looks great. 73082 double heading 34059 and later on 34059 double heading 73082. And 32424 is running too.

I believe there is also a blue sharp pointy thing and a strange sounding locomotive that at times is a bit too shiny - oops, I'll get my coat! :)

Personally, I would have preferred a Camelot and Sir Nigel Gresley combo, something a bit more... Scottish.
But you are right torgormaig, an A4/Atlantic pairing has never happened, not even when the two LNER Atlantics were in service.

Yes looks like the best day. Also line closures in many places on SR and SWR make the journey look difficult on the Saturday. SR don’t even mention the lack of the key Brighton to Soton service on their list. The platform allocations at HK look odd as do the coaching stock. The A4 on set C?

The platform allocations are the same as they normally are for galas.

At the August event down trains used platforms 4/5 and up trains to EG used P3

A4s and the Hall can't fit through 4/5. Giants of Steam Galas usually use platforms 2 and 3. Except 2016 when only 2 and 4/5 was in use and 2018 and 2019 when all three/four was in use for a couple of trips but not by any visiting pacific

Those are the normal platforms for up and down trains, but it depends on gauging. The Hall can’t go through 4/5 so if it is crossing, it normally uses 3 in both directions and whatever it crosses with would then use 4/5.

OK but not so good for me changing trains down to up as the steps are stone and steep and not good to use with my reduced mobility but I will take my time and cope

There should be a porter to help passengers with reduced mobility cross between platforms via the foot crossing at the north end of the platforms.

Looks like it has set B on its own for a couple of trips on Sunday. Bear in mind that is the Maunsells / Bulleids, so lighter than Mark 1s, though I suspect a few tons over the nominal load limit. (I make that set 195 tons).

The set used in the August bash was 177 tons. A 6 coach MK1 set would be about 205 tons depending on the individual coaches used.

Should have said it took 7 on test and restarted the train on one of the steepest gradients. In the days of steam it regularly took 350 tons on the Newhaven boat trains and 610 pm Victoria
