That's the first I have heard of
Well that is the first I have heard about a carriage shed at Swanage and I have been a volunteer since 1996.
So where would you store the locomotives? The sidings are on a curve and built over Swanbrook and No 1 siding is very close to the main running line.

Regarding Herston, I am concerned about security, given the remote location which AIUI is connected with a public bridleway from somewhere close to the school. The artists impression that I have seen suggests that the bottom of the cladding is exposed and there are no doors?
If a second carriage shed is required, surely Corfe sidings would be the ideal location but I fear that would have to be filed under the heading of WIBN!

I'm absolutely certain that when 1&2 are covered then they would be used as they are used now.

If Herston gets broadband, then hopefully modern security cameras and proximity section alarms (going to nominated staff mobiles), with sirens and speakers could be used, along with security signs and fences.
The heritage carriages are worth the extra cost of a modern security system, and ideally all stations should also be covered (possible they may be already?).
Ideally mindless theft and damage to heratige can be a thing of the past?..

Anyone managed to get any photos of the carriage shed?

Also any news about the 3TC set?

Well as the Warm Up timetable normally needs 4 locos what else were you suggesting the 08 or this?

I reckon people would pay good money for a ride up the line on that - maybe not in the middle of winter though!

Funny I have thought that, although the suspension looks "minimal" Climb back from Frome Bridge should be fun four up.

Try again January/February, Currently the sidings are being ballasted as mentioned up thread. The Swanage camera shows 70824 outside the goods shed so I assume that work is in progress.
The latest magazines are full of the news about 34028 going mainline and also when 34072 257 Squadron completes it's stay on the Mid Hants, It is coming back to the Swanage railway full time,
to cover for 34028 which I am hazarding a guess will be out based at Southall for main line duties?
TBH, I am rather surprised that this has not been picked up before on this thread, full details can be found in the Steam locomotion section under Bulleid pacifics past and present page 272 . under
    the SLL latest news.

Saw a NHS physiotherapist today, whilst my engineering side is knackered, the hydraulic side is in good order. She said that 128 is an achievable target

Age of 128 seems unlikely, maximum heart rate when exercising?

No updates on the FB group after the detailed update in a recent Swanning Arround.
At least the the LU 4TC will be available to work push pull for the Spring Diesel gala if they don't get the 3TC running.

With approaching Storm Darragh just beginning to get the wind to pick up, and with light fading the 15:30 Polar Express returns through Corfe Castle on December 6th.
With the worst of Storm Darragh presumably having passed, the 13:30 Polar Express returns across Corfe Common. This was the first daylight run of the season, although still pretty dark. Would have loved to video it, but keeping the camera still was hard enough, let alone a camcorder on a tripod. Although I suppose it was more like a summer's day for those used to Shap or the S & C:) DSC_0673r.jpg DSC_0691r.jpg

Although yesterday had the earliest sunset and very dull weather, today was little better. I decided to risk the Castle Crossing area (which is a big gamble on the level of drain cock steam) not realising there was a Winter Lights event at the castle tonight I found the car park almost full. Still those already up at the castle were treated to a volcanic eruption. The final image showing a slightly illuminated castle. DSC_0733r.jpg DSC_0736r.jpg DSC_0740r.jpg

I had been hoping for some sunshine during the Polar season, especially for the daylight runs. So Saturday was if anything too sunny in the end, although unusually this train just beat the encroaching shade, Corfe Castle having gone into shade as the train passed under Townsend Bridge.
So at the risk of boring you all with images of Manston here are two more. However I expect it will be Friday before I have a chance to get out again as my wife is having two hospital procedures on Wednesday. DSC_0762r.jpg DSC_0772r1.jpg
