FLYING SCOTSMAN ON FREIGHT - FIRST TIME SINCE 1994!

We are so lucky to have been given the opportunity to host a full line photographic day with A3 Class No 60103 'Flying Scotsman' on Friday 28th February 2025.

This is believed to be the first time the locomotive has hauled freight since a previous charter at the NVR in 1994, so this is not to be missed!

So do we know which TOC has been chosen this time around to work it on the mainline (I am assuming it will turn up by rail).

I'm afraid I can't answer the TOC question, but my understanding is that it is coming in by rail.

Daytime and evening rake consists have been decided and are as depicted - the opens should all have tarp covers as would have been the case back in the day.

Did I see some activity at Wansford (via Railcam) today involving large bits of wood?

Possibly, although there was no WG working session this weekend, so if there was, I don't know what it was for (unless Tim has been on site). There is a plan which involves large bits of wood - building some frames in the opens to simulate stacked goods under the tarps...

Last weekend saw a session which involved some of the group cleaning the chassis and metalwork on the north side of the rake (which tends to turn green) while others were putting newspapers in to bundles wrapped in brown paper.
