    Taken from Barrie Hughes site...
    NG15 No.120 news (5/2/09)

James Hewett (Chairman WHHR) reports: The Anglo-Franco-Belge NG15 locomotive No.120 (2667 of 1949) has been purchased by a member of the WHR Ltd. It will be restored at a private site with the intention that it will run on Welsh Highland Railway Ltd services in the future. No date has been set for its return to steam

I was pleased when they put it up for sale, I never thought it fitted in.... but I've been thinking recently and I may have come up with an idea again! lol ;-)

No no Neil…. Just thinking of possible options as they seem to be hinting that the loco will return to the line once restored.

I wonder whether 120 will be rebuilt as was, of whether it'll also adopt the modifications (e.g. tender) that will be made to 134? :-k

The Darnall Loco instagram page reports, with photos, this unrestored loco’s arrived in Sheffield for cleaning & painting prior to repairs starting.

Little’s been heard of it since sold by the WHHR back in 2009. It was sometimes reported as being part of the Rampton Collection X but that wasn’t correct. Good to hear positive news at last.

It was owned by someone associated with the whole VofR/collection X ensemble though which was probably where the confusion came from.

Indeed - yet another possible confusion is NG121's owned by that collection* and, like NG120, scarcely seen or heard of for many years.

    *and NG146.

I don't know. The instagram page is: https://www.instagram.com/darnall_loco/ where they seem to have a few interesting projects on the go :)

An update last week on the 'Steam Loco Info' website says 120's "relocated to a private workshop at Sheffield in Yorkshire, where it is now under restoration. No. 120 is now owned by the Darnall Locomotive and Railway Heritage Trust who also own former Indian Hill Railway (Matheran Light Railway) Orenstein & Koppel built 0-6-0T No. 740."

Maddie has her own workshop where she is working on various projects including an SAR class 91 diesel-electric, a Luttermoller 0-8-0 (also being worked on at workshop X) and No740 mentioned above. She also has an African (not sure of exact origin) carriage being rebuilt at Boston Lodge.

It will be interesting to see where this rolling stock ends up working once they return to traffic. The SAR 91 won't even fit up the WHR to the best of my knowledge.

I think Maddie has connections at a number of railways, and in reply to previous questions about future running of her locos, she has made it clear that she does have a plan.

I'm currently surrounded by piles of freshly painted NG15 parts :) More keep arriving! The entire locomotive is currently in Sheffield, the bigger bits will be going into storage until Matheran 740 is back in steam.

It will be going back into full SAR condition with the exception of an NGG16 style regulator as they go in the opposite direction to a normal NG15 one.

    A quick preview:

121 will be going on display at the Vale of Rheidol and is substantially in as withdrawn condition. Time has been less kind to 146 although between me and the good people managing the collection we are trying to find a loving home for it.

The carriage is ex-Natal Government Railways/South African Railways NG29, a first brake.
