Trackside and Steam could both do a poll on their Facebook pages, depending on the percentage of each engine's status.
Then the results could be published on the following month's issue.

Which newbuild will possibly steam next. I'm probably gonna bet on 1014 County of Glamorgan.

I think it’ll be a close run thing between that and 82045.

How does a poll of what other people think inform that?

A considered judgement from people on the inside, or otherwise with relevant experience, might inform a view, but if my vote is a valid as Bob Meanly's, it's not much of a prediction method.

It would provide an indication of the level of knowledge of the participants when compared against the eventual result. Otherwise, it would be like any other "what will happen next" newspaper poll - not even useful for the next day's fish and chips.

A poll may be useful for contributing to a decision, or indicating popularity - should 32424 be painted Improved Engine Green or Thomas Blue? Do readers of SR want loco X or loco Y to be next to run? - but are of no use as a predictive tool

A blue H2 would be popular at Thomas events on the Bluebell…

Not strictly speaking a new build though is it?
I think we should see the GCR 4-4-0 567 outshopped in BR Express Passenger Blue. That definitely will be appropriate and won't annoy anybody in any way shape or form, right?

I think I’ve just twigged what @aron33 means by his ‘poll’. Do you mean a table ?

That’s it. A table suits better than poll.

Sure is. We could just leave a cardboard cutout and they probably wouldn’t even notice.

Well that is a thought...... Perhaps if you called it Robinsons "Improved" GCR Green no one would notice? Seriously though, I am really pleased that this new build project is making much better progress.

Which begs another question with 2013 Prince George. Will there be any improvements to the design to remedy any downsides the original class had?

    Table predictions.

    Next 3/4 years
    Patriot
    County 460
    82045
    P2

    Next 5-10 years
    Standard 2 bluebell
G5 (this might be closer, apologies if its further along than i thought)

    Next 10-20 years
    Clan
    B17
    F5
    Gcr 567
    County 4-4-0.
    Night owl

    Cant see happening
    Scottish loco
    George 5th
    Streamlined P2

Some of the locos in the 10-20 year may never be finished too unless they receive large legacies from members too.

Im always more on the side of negativity than positivity when it comes to these, not out of dislike of any of the projects, purely out of the hard cash incomes that they raise. I wish every group success and hope many can up their incomes considerably so we all get to see these run

I'm less and less confident of seeing a P2 in and sort of timely fashion, I'd bet on the 5-10 year slot.
