Flying Scotsman back on the main line today, seen working away from a stop at Bessacarr Junction and under Warren Lane Bridge, Bessacarr, Doncaster with an Engine & Coach move from Shildon to the Nene Valley Railway...

I saw her depart south from York. She was following the path of a light-engine WC 47 move. Was that coincidence or was the diesel accompanying it at a distance? I was under the impression that WC wanted nothing to do with Scotsman now...

That was apparently to search ahead for trespassers. Believe it was the ECML thunderbird.

It was OZ78 which should have gone straight down the ECML to Newark Northgate from Darlington but was sent ahead of Scotsman from York to Peterborough for NR to assess for trespass.

Also started Rail Express magazine and starred in Top Gear a few years ago too. His talk at Stevenage Loco Society a few weeks back was very amusing.

Oh, yes, I forgot about that bit! Being able to alert preservationists of coaches that were about to go for scrap was particularly handy. Editor of Moorsline as well for a while.

He's Chairman of the DPS, so I think it's fair to say he's a "leading light"...!

What dates are the driver experiences with FS? No longer on NVR website since sold out.

Don't think there were driver experiences, just footplate rides during photo charters.

Yesterday was a fantastic day - never mind your Grandads, my son fired Flying Scotsman (a big thank you to Danny from Northern Steam for making that happen), and our wagon (LMS M470944) was in the rake. Lots of happy punters and lots of great photos and footage from the day appearing on social media. If you missed it, you missed out, it's very unlikely to happen again. We will be doing the daytime photo charter stuff all over again on 12th March with Britannia on the front.

Some great shots from Jack Boskett here: https://www.facebook.com/jackbosket...rq5kNixd6eMrr4vPdpi4iCSTvEccHf17dv7U1nomHN1hl

Let’s hope 60103 runs mainline soon.

Could Northern Steam subcontract another outfit to facilitate the main line use, such as using a certain Mr Riley to carry out operating the engine on their behalf.

I cant help admire your optimism in the face of overwhelming odds against . A former caretaker and partner TOC overlooked, being asked to pick up the pieces from the winner . Snow balls in hell and all of that !

I don't have a Crystal ball or any inside information, but I predict a series of repeat itenary tours for later this year utilising DB crews and Eastern Rail Services rolling stock.
If I'm correct someone can buy me a Mars bar.
Also this will provide another option for mainline steam operation and we know DB dislike diesels on the back, so potentially beneficial for the entire industry.
