I would imagine a certain line near Skipton may well see if they can nab her for the Hunslet Fitzwilliam Gala at the end of June

Unlikely to be visiting a line in Hunslet, I'm afraid. The costs would be too great. Unless you want to sponsor it, that is.;)

It’ll definitely be available to hire at times, Between commitments to the NNR, and I know it’s had a few provisional gala invitations already. Sensibly, it’s a “finish it first, commit later” frame of mind. There’s certainly one upcoming event some of us in the group would like it to go to.

This would absolutely make my day but I suspect it may be too soon for the Newstead team to consider!

    If I could, I would!

And off she heads to her brighter new future on the Norfolk coast.

An emotional moment at TWW amid the group as she set off.

In good hands, I see - the same people who moved 92 Squadron to Bury.

Well, things have taken a huge step forward.
On Monday it was crunch time as the boiler inspector came to do what we hoped would be the final steam test - and gave the boiler a clean bill of health! That could only mean one thing, and so today, under supervision of the NNR engineering team, Newstead undertook several trips between Sheringham and Holt - the furthest she has run under her own steam since being withdrawn from the colliery more than 50 years ago!
Still more testing to do first before we can announce a public launch date, but we're not far off now (hopefully).

A huge and hearty congratulations to the team that have been restoring it. Its been a long road but hopefully they can start enjoying the fruits of their labour.

A milestone indeed - good to see her running LE today. As you say, not long before she can enter service!

IMHO the Hunslet range of 12-18” saddle tanks all are. They have very clean lines with an absolute minimum of pipework in view and, being inside cylinders, no ‘wiggly bits’ in view.
