Enthusiasts are in the main from experience a forgiving bunch . Grange delays are largely forgotten and those railways who missed originally are being visited so in the long term no one misses out

subject to 60163 being acceptable to WC there is no reason it won't be the same

I would say that is question for those who have put sums of money into the engine to decide.

How do you know "no-one misses out"?

Forgiving in the sense that we’ll pay to travel behind, or forgiving in terms of continuing to donate?

Are the passengers on the train really bothered what colour the stock is, maybe the photographers are, but...

Which is followed by the post I quoted, which I suggest clarifies.

Further, the post you quote was explaining that it is the not rights and wrongs of doing a deal with WCR, which others point out is a realistic choice, but the nature and type of deal that is open to question given the circumstances. That doesn't need the financial details to be revealed. The bold emphasis is somewhat misleading.

and this forum is representative ....... Each thread tends to have a very loud and vocal minority and yes at times that can include me but most read and move on .

it is interesting the regard the forum is held in across the movement and the lack of industry leaders on here perhaps tells you all you need to know

But when the vocal minority starts swamping all other content in a thread, it makes it difficult to get a balanced view and other updates easily get missed.

This may also put off people from posting more balanced views or - heaven forbid - a different opinion to the minority.

The option to "scroll by" should Not be the default. When a thread becomes a "stuck record" with the same minority content being posted over and over again, maybe a quiet word is required to say "yes, we understand that your a bit p*ssed off but you've made your own point.?

Opinions are great, just expect them to be challenged, I don't believe the "vocal minority" have sought to belittle others's views or proclaimed the irrelevance of the platform...

I have always been of the opinion that some tie up with either West Coast, or LSL, would be necessary for main line operations,
Most of the adverse publicity has been of the trust's own making, for example, the boiler, once it was known it had not been overhauled to the contract as agreed why wasn't it returned for rectification instead several sets of tubes had to be changed, and then there's the firebox distortion, again, the work should have been stopped and the boiler returned, Because there has been no statement made, people are rightfully asking why, and what else is there,
My personal feeling is that those in charge do not have the skills required to see the engine overhauled, and the because of the same lack of skills, the P2 is now effected, if you rely on others , as sub-contractors, you still need the experienced people to ensure the work has been done,, not wait until problems come to light when the next stage of work finds out your parts are faulty and have to be scrapped and or redone, .
I think the tie up with West coast, was really having to get help from another outfit, and what happened with Vintage trains? and they will of course ensure Tornado is fit to run, that of course could mean further work being needed, to ensure the engine remains fit to run, how much say, David Smith has in Tornado, only he, and Davies will know, but if the engines being repainted at his stipulation, clearly its him now calling the shots.

Given what the target market seems to be these days, I doubt many passengers are that bothered. As for the photographers, they need to develop their editing skills or be a bit more creative if the coaching stock worries them that much. :)

From what has been announced, it seems that someone at WCRC is bothered about the liveries of Tornado and the coaches that it will run with. We can only speculate about why.

Well they’re not bothered by the mismatch of loco and stock liveries when 34067 is out and about and this is the company that ran a BR red Jubilee.

This A1ST/WCRC chunter is really rather daft in my view.

Let's suppose that when Tornado was withdrawn for its overhaul, there were no boiler issues, things went as planned and the loco emerged on time complete with its new ETCS technology. And then the A1ST announced that in order to maximise route coverage and revenue, the Trust was making Tornado available to WCRC as its main partner for its charters and any other operators who used WCRC. I suspect there would have been a few shrugs but most people would then turn the page.

Well, that's where we are. What's the problem?

    With WCRC - none.

But step back to when this was announced, and how. Then factor in that there have been boiler issues, things didn't go as planned, the loco didn't emerge on time, and ETCS is not proven to be working. That is the issue, and that is the challenge.

I think the biggest thing with the WCRC announcement is the change of livery, it will another loco in BR Green.
