Hasn't stopped boiler explosions in Germany, indeed, one of them took place in Meiningen Works!

"Reap what you sow" comes more to my mind. A lot of bridge building, and a lot is required in future.....

It also misses the point - feedback is feedback.

Sounds promising, I really do hope everything is on the up. Tornado is a magnificent bit of kit. WCRC and maybe Mr Riley, onward and upward.

Indeed - however it's delivered. It doesn't have to be on vellum with a wax seal...

Who are these ‘anonymous snipers’, are they in the room? Those that have emailed, called or attempted to raise points on their FB (generally intercepted or removed by the admin) are hiding in plain sight surely?

Don't forget, this site isn't considered important by loco owners, so it can't be us. Must be some other group.

How long did it take one of our number to get a response even when he cancelled his standing order? Perhaps if they had the "moral courage" to return people's calls, it might be easier...

Suffice it to say that, reading that comment, any slight thought of adding the trust to my list of donations evaporated.

That's nothing to do with the purpose, or the feedback here or elsewhere, but very simply the fact that a senior figure in an organisation chooses to attack rather than acknowledge gracefully. The same has been true elsewhere, and I've seriously considered withdrawing support in response to that kind of commentary.

Yes, there's nothing like an attack wrapped in an apparent apology to induce goodwill is there...?

I've noticed that there is an increasing tendency towards that behaviour in modern discourse: also, for some to attack people who apologise for their behaviour rather than accept the apology offered. Most commonly seen amongst the "metropolitan liberal elite" and so-called "educators".

On communication, and apropos nothing in particular, during the past month I've had cause to phone a well known railway organisation to get clarification over something. The call was fielded quickly and unexpectedly transferred to the head of the organisation who answered the query and explained why there was a little difficulty.

When I contact any organisation I don't expect to speak to the person in charge as in my day job people never got through directly to me except when, occasionally, there was a need to deal with something critical. I've never contacted the A1ST but all the chunter on here suggests that there is nobody who will respond directly over anything even when it is clear that the query is coming from someone who is entitled to get a response.

So if the latest Communication Cord (what an ironic name) is signalling a new world of contact with stakeholders then so much the better, although the starting point seems to be pretty low.

I just hope that the implied attitude is not the actual one. It’s a standard I often don’t attain myself, but the best communications start from an acceptance of where the audience are, not an insistence on where they should be.

You appear to have a lot of experience of boilers and engineering by your comments
