The set B like last weekend is also used when we run the cream tea services. So it does get more use than some think.

Happened to see the 14:40 from Norden at HX. Thought it looked lightly loaded, until I got back to Swanage and saw the main car park. Then I realised the railway was actually doing rather well today.
Maybe things may improve with the weather.

With the diesel gala timetable out confirming only Swanage to Norden running (website needs to be double checked), won't this heavily increase the costs of visitors, plus 4 cars of the VEP.

So far with 3 weeks till take off, we have 7 visiting plus 1 home class 33. Lets hope the weather holds and it will be another really great event

Anyone have any updates how this new SR director is getting on, any new ideas/opportunity opening up?

Read somewhere trains can run across the repaired bridge, but not passengers

I must admit I forgot to check on when Grange Road was due to be closed, but I see from the BBC site it was April 7 for 5 days.
Did that happen and were the bridge repairs successfully completed?

    From the SR website
"We will have an intensive service in operation on all three days between Swanage and Norden only. Unfortuntately, we are not able to run trains between Norden and our Network Rail Boundary this year. This is due to ongoing infrastructure repairs following a bridge strike in August last year which has severed the line.

Repairs to the bridge will be completed in time to bring in the visiting locomotives and stock."
Which seems to imply the bridge has not been fully repaired or there will not be enough time to revise the gala timetable

First time visit to Swanage today. Steam and DMU in service. Good numbers of passengers travelling and a fun Easter trail for children which my daughter enjoyed. It's a good example of a low cost event which helps draws customers in. All the staff were very friendly and we enjoyed the cafe at Corfe Castle and looking round the museum. IMG_20250420_144401.jpg

Three random images of Manston over the Easter period.
The Lombardy Poplars are yet to go into full leaf at the loco approaches Swan Brook on April 17
April 18 sees it leaving Harmans Cross in the rain.
On April 21 it arrives at Swanage on the first train from Norden (or was it Waterloo?) DSC_0548r.jpg DSC_0557_1r.jpg DSC_0559r.jpg

I believe it is having an external cosmetic 'makeover'. I also understand that all the cooking equipment, fridges, freezers, etc. are still up to current standards.
Had heard that too. BSK 35011 was already air braked, for use on LU, and electrically heated I think - although all systems will be checked before presenting it for it's first Fitness to Run Exam before main line registration and running.
I would have thought it might be desirable to have steam heating reinstated - when it is operating as loco and coach only in cold weather. Also Vacuum braking might be useful if used with heritage railway stock. However, these could be added later.
I assume the luggage area will need to have tool and spares racking as well as some form of food/drink preparation area for the support crew.
Possibly, 34028's team might be able to use a WCRC support crew coach initially but I'm sure they'd love their own one as soon as practicable.
