That green side is the south side and gets sun, rain (prevailing weather from South West), etc. so deteriorates quicker.
Or, perhaps, we didn't have any 'Blood & Custard' striped paint in stock!
    We may never know.;)

7 days left to paint the kitchen carriage north side green to match the south side, dry, and then move to platform 1 ready to cook curries for the diesel gala.
Middle of the week the locos and 4 VEP unit will arrive. RTT Timings in the gala thread, so there will be some blue rolling stock in the station.

I did (mischievously) think you could paint a whole rake like that as a photo charter set. One colour in the morning, other side in the afternoon when the sun moves.

Kitchen Car moved from extended siding at Herston, where the South side was painted Green, and now resides in the 'Squint' at the end of the run-round loop. Whether it has been, or is intended to be, painted on the North side - before issuing curries - I have no idea.

That's what the Swanage railway posted on 21 April on it's facebook page, on the webcam looks like it (or another Mk1 coach not clear) might now have been shunted by the 08 loco to platform 1 next to the 4VEP unit, presume there will be another shunt to get it nearer the station building so the kitchen can be powered up?

Yep. The 4Vep is running in 30 mins so the shunting will happen in next few mins

From the webcam the Kitchen Car is now in the goods shed sidings ready to move to Platform 1 for Saturday night curries.
The north side still has not been repainted.
After the gala presumably the kitchen car will be moved back to sidings, then used again on the platform for cooking curries for the Purbeck Piddler train in June?

Sorry to get all unnecessary on this, but who has responsibility for "getting the message out there" at the moment, and is there not a message in there somewhere (if you'll forgive the clumsiness of the phrasing)?

Andrew P.M. Wright is the official press officer and sends our updates about future events on the SR and trust websites, quarterly magazine, local and railway news outlets.
    Also official YouTube videos.
But for operational issues the best site currently is the official Swanage railway Facebook page.
I understand that the SR management are looking at improving communication

It has been announced that following last weekend's Diesel Gala, Class 20 20066 will be staying at the railway for several months to provide cover. Running dates will be announced in due course.

Pleasing to see as 257 Squadron was waiting to depart on the 14:00 service a Spitfire did a couple of passes over the town. I assume on a sortie from Compton Abbas.

It's a Spitfire Mk.T IX reg G-ILDA. It arrived from Chichester this morning and has been flying out of Bournemouth during the day. [BJ]

I apologise for the "true anorak" nature of this question. But just to it stop bugging me.
Since the outbreak of new bridge number signs there have appeared to be some "new bridges".
For example 21A at one end of Bridge 21 (does this bridge have a name as it is not shown on the gradient profile PDF?) and 22A just Swanage side of New Barn Bridge and 22B by the loco ash heaps.
There are a few on the extension as well 7A appears to be a bridge, 7B not obviously so as examples.
Finally there is a bridge between Washpond Lane and Cow Pat that appears to have no number. Of course with New Barn being 25, and 26 being between Dickers and Cow Pat. and 27 being Washpond Lane I guess this would have to be a suffix bridge as well.
