More importantly, along the route, lots of rain early yesterday morning in North Somerset, Bristol and South Gloucestershire. Also thunder and heavy rain in the afternoon. [BJ]

Final email and ticket received today for Saturday. Should be a great day!

I believe I am right in saying this is the first steam train to stop at Worcestershire Parkway. It's my local station so I usually stay on top of what's going on and generally go on any tour that picks up there. We've had steam pass through before without stopping, we've had plenty of diesel tours pick up there (including ones that become steam later on, such as last year's Mayflower tour which was steam from Bristol), but I think is the first steam one to pick up there.

You're sure it's 2999? The tour booklet that VT emailed out today with the ticket says it will be 7812 and 7828

I believe repairs to 7828 are not yet finished so it will be 12/2999

I guess that the VT booklet was prepared a while ago. 7828 is back on the WSR but needs further attention before re entering service. The rostered power for Saturday's VT trip is therefore 7812 + 2999 d/h.

As always. I Can live with the shoveage as long as there's plenty of effort from the front, which there wasn't. Had high hopes for a decent run down the Bham & Bristol mainline, as steam is pretty rare on that stretch. It will be interesting to see whether the 37 comes off at Lydeard.

I like that they put the head code on the Saint.

The alpha numeric codes were used from 1960, Z was for excursion trains starting and terminating within the WR.
