Are you saying there is a pump visible on the 8F?
I am far more surprised the locos have not been fitted with air brakes than I am about not fitting CDL to a bunch of Mk1's.

No, was just wondering if it was air braked during its previous overhaul. No visible air pump.

Was vac before. Photo doesn’t show an air pump but it’s only half the loco and could be hidden inside.

However I was told fairly reliably it had not been fitted

Just a theory, but maybe they'll use Tornado on Thursday. That saves Tangmere for the Northern Belle on Saturday or vice versa.

Does anybody know if the Dalesman from Chester is still running. No times have appeared on RTT as yet

It's disappeared off the WCR website Idris, so I presume it's cancelled.

Thank you. Rail Advent still has it showing as running.

Times were in RTT and have since been removed so would suggest cancelled. Interstingly it had extra pathing stops this year on both legs making it more chase-able than usual

There is a series of what are described on RH as a "test run" for the 'Britannic Explorer', with a class 66 and ECS, from Wales to Victoria and back over several days this week. My question is, if the loco and stock are cleared for the route (with NR's hugely-meticulous route clearance regime), why is there a need for such (presumably expensive) runs?
