Steam loco availability should improve next week with the return of 44806 after issues found last week.
63395 was steamed for the first time yesterday, and will be running in shortly once some niggles have been ironed out.
29s defective rod (minus defects) returned this week and will be fitted hopefully by the end of the week.

A good example of one reason, there are others eg weather, why booking in advance is not to everyone's taste. So I think the three stop ticket is a good idea for the POTD brigade including people starting at Pickering who fancy a walk from Goathland to Grosmont. The website should explain the availability of the three stop ticket.

Anyone can pay a donation fare, tax payer or not. Only if a passenger selects / offers to pay the donation fare option are they asked the Gift Aid question (are you a UK tax payer etc).

Perhaps you misunderstand my question. I was enquiring where your figure of £32.50 comes from. It seemed a possibility that you were factoring in the benefit of a higher rate taxpayer, but I don't know.

926 passed it's post washout steam test yesterday
92134 is requiring coupling rod bushes to be made then I believe once rods are fitted it's done
80136 is sat at the back of the shed awaiting it's elements returning after it blew a couple on test at the end of May

30% discount for booking 14+ day in advance on a donation fare gives £ 38.15
15% voucher back then gives a net cost (ie best value) of £32.50

For many reasons, most of which have been discussed in this thread, my wife and I are likely to visit the line only once this year, if at all. This will be for the September gala and will depend on the programme when it is published.

Many thanks for the information, looking positive for the steam fleet, which is good news and and thanks to all involved in the MPD.

Is there signage indicating that children now travel free?

Did anyone else spot the Yorkshire Post supplement featuring A walk down the Rail Trail between Goathland and Grosmont with return by train?
No mention of any limitations or arrangements about ticketing just turn up and ride is the impression I get.
