Beggers belief then 45212 is still being advertised as steam for Thursday (SSE) and Sunday (The Waverley) unless WCRC have a secret steam loco we dont know about!!!

I suspect the office may have been busy with other things today. This is on the CME page

Or if it's simply damaged the journal, it'll be easier to take the tender back to Bury for remedial work rather than try and remove a wheelset 300 miles from home.

Well then WCR are left with Zero Operation locos outside of Scotland... What a state of events.

I really hope so. For the sake of all the people booked onto these upcoming railtours I want 45212 to not bow out yet.

45212 is being moved by road to our new works in Bury, the tender will be FULLY overhauled as soon as possble allowing a steam loco to return to Southall as soon as humanly possible.

They've also got the ECML thunderbird contract with 2 diesel locos stabled at Newark which are regularly called upon

The WCML thunderbird contract is coming up for renewal and rumours are wcrc have secured that as they have started to refit dellner couplings to their fleet of 57s

WCRC isn't just a charter operator for cheese butty and spotter tours

It's called "business"...you take advantage of opportunities available to your skills and experience you have. Then you turn it into income/profit. Sadly some folk on here don't like that....

Thats the advantage of having your own very well-equipped workshop, that you can do that very quickly, I'm not doubting Ian's capability to turn it round fast, and no doubt, if he is carrying out the overhaul of 45212, that will be a speedy operation also, hopefully the work on 35009 will soon speed up, as I can see that loco being needed if Carnforth is going to rely soley on hired in 3rd party owned steam engines, rather than its own fleet.

We can only hope for 45212 speedy return. For now until the Jacobite Five's return it'll probably be only Clan Lines one summer trip with RTC that runs steam hauled. Hopefully RTC might be able to get Clan Line for a few more railtours to help out, maybe the ACE for example.

In the meantime we'll need to wait for Eddystone to make an appearance and hope WCR see sense and air brake another locomotive.

Possibly, but how long does typing one sentence take? I think it is a generic issue with web sites in that it is under-estimated how important they are as the main form of general communication these days.

    Let's start some speculation...

"A steam loco"? Does that mean that it may not necessarily be 45212?

As much as I hope so, surely that’s highly unlikely? Hopefully Eddy is ready soon/ 45212 is back out sooner rather than later

I would suggest for a small wholly volunteer organisation MNLPS have got their work cut out keeping up with their current programme keeping Clan Line running. https://www.clan-line.org.uk/diary/
There is also a maintenance period between 23rd October and 17th November, so the volunteers at Stewarts Lane will still be busy.

    Cheers, Neil
