Not quite on the line now but The Yew Tree at Cauldon is worth a visit.

 

I think yours and my idea of a day well spent might differ slightly from the average family day out?

I say this without a hint of irony, but Leek has actually become a bit of a food and drink hotspot.

Plenty of good, independent places in town.

And anywhere with a titanic brewery pub is worth a visit…

 

Is that the Roebuck ? I love a plum porter !

My palet is wide ranging, so no offence taken.

 

Well, enjoyed a great day rail, ale, trailing again. Seemed busy Saturday so hopefully it’s done well for the railway.

The beer cards seemed to go down a storm and bought even more people this year and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Fingers crossed next year may be able to get on/off at leek in some form or fashion and will happily contribute to the local hospitality economy.

Although given what I saw this year, I get the feeling it could get extremely busy!

(Despite the naysayers)

Can someone help please?
I went on the Evening Special with my son on the 16th August and he'd like to know which of the S160's pulled the train.
He's seen Rapido trains are doing both and wants to save for the one that pulled us on that evening.

5197 out today on a seven coach train. Loco was short of steam on both trips needing a blow up for around 10 mins, probably due to coal quality.
The driver said it has about 18 months left on its ticket. 3278 is not far off being ready now.

 

Just seen this on twitter. More excellent news for the railway. Looks like another sensible opportunity to grasp and get ahead of the curve and another sign of intent from the railway.

 

Sounds good, I was fortunate enough to travel to Oakamoor on the 104 unit just before it was pulled up. Any idea where the track is coming from?

 

Brilliant news - given how much hard work it was to get to Leek, feel like the railway deserved a win like this for going the other direftion!

Shall I be the first to ask when the reopening train is slated for?
