According to RTT it would appear 89001 arrived back at base after it's various outings overnight.
Hoping that nothing was thrown up by those trips I presume it will next be hauling a loaded test train to complete the certification process.
Incidentally, I believe it is quite normal on these test trains to achieve 10% more than the registered maximum speed.
If so, is 89001 being certified by LSL for 100 mph running - in which case it should get up to 110 mph - or it's original 125 mph?
If the latter, it would have to reach 137.5 mph but I do not recall anywhere on the WCML to do that.
A 140 mph maximum speed had been intended to operate on the ECML, over the 'flashing greens' section north of Peterborough, but was never introduced. Also, I presume that section has since been maintained to permit 'only' 125 mph?

Judging by the headboard there may be plans for it to haul an RTC trip again.

71000 away from Crewe. I think I counted 9 Blood and Custards and a Grey Class 57 on the rear.

Just seen west of Codsall. 71000 largely a show pony on the front - 57 just pushing the thing on the back.

Probably get told again it's for 'operational reasons' or some other blanket textbook excuse. Waste of time having a test run if it just gets pushed.

Of course you have no idea whether there may be a perfectly valid reason for the diesel to be assisting do you?

I'll put these here rather than under the 71000 thread.

An overall dull day greeted 71000 on its return to the main line. It was however a pleasant surprise to see the tour set behind the engine.
A walk for Chirk viaduct and taking a chance Cosford station; the next service to Shrewsbury was actually in the platform !. At neither location did I feel the loco wasn't working.
