I did suggest that to some of 6024's support crew when I bumped into them at German plandampf. German locos have cast plates as well, so the fixing holes are already there in the cab side! Assuming it would be a 38, being a 4-6-0, then it could be 38 6024-4...

There is a 5Z path in on the 8th October with a service stop at Coton hill . Is this likely to convert into a passenger path ?

This is the correct pathing and times for the Dukes loaded test runs, 7th, 8th (members train) and 9th October.

If all goes to plan we will be hauling the Chairmans train to Carlisle on 10th and return light engine on 11th.

I apologise for those who don't use Facebook, but the BR Standard Class 8 Steam Locomotive Trust have posted a picture of 71000 fully painted and lined out and very smart the loco looks too. A look through the replies to some of the comments has some close up pictures.

The loco carries full BR Early crests, rather the the previously announced amended version that the British Railways lettering replaced with the Duke.

Looks fantastic though and looking forward to seeing further pictures and videos from the rest runs and members trip. Also look forward to another trip behind it at some point.

It will be great to see this superb engine back in this part of the world again. Just checked - It is hard to believe that it was over 20 years ago when I recorded it at Chichester on its last trip along parts of the south coast. How time flies!

Had the absolute pleasure of driving her on an East Lancs experience day, after one of the IR Black 5's had failed on the morning.
The support team, brought her around, and as a group we drove and fired her all afternoon, under supervision.
An absolute Rolls Royce of a machine, delighted to see her back in service, i must transfer the video from the day onto Youtube.
