I believe not so long ago (and possibly still) the Bluebell was looking for a home for this:

    https://www.bluebell-railway.co.uk/bluebell/pics/957.html

That would give you your ad-hoc shunter and a loco with fairly solid Eastern England heritage credentials!

    Ah...
Maybe only for really patient PW workers then.

Is the state of the batteries known - I assume they're good old lead/acid for adhesion purposes?

Most of the locos will be (and in some cases already have) moved out of Overton as they don't fit the 50s/60s goods yard project (and several of them don't belong to NVR). All will become clear as the project progresses, and updates around that will be on the NVR wagon group thread.

It'll make for a slow BLS trip but haulage is haulage.

Well, the NVR has got the "Trackcess All Areas" event coming up:

    https://nvr.org.uk/product.php?xProd=597

Oh, for the days when such an event would be operated in open wagons or brake vans - which would be a step up from the P*c*r...

4144 on Mk1s replaces 656 on Belgian stock for the continental weekend. At least it'll have a Cornish Riviera headboard - it's almost a foreign country down there!

The use of "Thomas the Tank Engine" in the BBC article is a bit questionable in the 4th paragraph. Yes the loco's name is Thomas and was officially named as such by the Rev Awdry which gives the railway permission to use it and he is a tank engine, but I don't think the use of caps should really be used here due to copyright issues.

I'm sure the BBC's lawyers have reviewed it.

Andrew Barclay-built Austerity No. 15 ‘Earl David’ (works no. 2183) will be joining the railway on long-term loan, with its first duties expected to be this Sunday.

Nothing really that involves NVR as the article seems to incline - it’s very misleading as the photo used is of the Old Station Building which is nothing to do with the proposed coach depot - the buildings in line for that is the one on the other side of the yard which was used by Hutchinsons and more recently the bio fuel company, and have never been owned by the railway nor has the yard, which is the factory style building with the goods office on the back.

The Old Station Building is very much in the NVR plans and proposals and fundraising are currently being discussed

Great - I got some lovely photos of 78018 in winter sunshine some time ago, here's hoping I can repeat it with 78019 :)
