The end of August bank holiday weekend sees the SDR host its 'Rails & Ales' Gala.
The variety of real ales has this year been increased as well as ciders (by popular demand). The gala should hopefully see most of the steam fleet in use including the ever popular Auto trains providing a shuttle service to the real ale event at Staverton.
Further details will no doubt follow shortly.

Are the train guards provided with a mop and bucket?

Has anyone any idea what time 4566 is likely to arrive at South Devon Railway on Thursday, please.
    Regards SteamHawk216.

1450 + single GWR p+p trailer! Magic. Return trip in the late eve connecting at Totnes with the main line.

Fantastic atmosphere as dusk resulted in station/other lights. Totally AAA++

First time in steam on the SDR for over 20yrs. Propelled TO Totnes. Exceptional...!!

For the avoidance of confusion, this thread started life off as about the 2009 event. There is a second thread about the 2010 event, which is 27th to 30th August.

4566 visited the 2009 event, but will not be there this year....
