Hi John, I am not sure as I had a number of PM's from members who had asked to join us that I had replied to but have since lost them in the move over (my fault, not the new style forum, I binned all my most recent PMs instead of the old ones!).
I will give PTR a ring on Tuesday and if there is a good number of members travelling together I will ask if we can be seated near the front of the train for either the outward or return run depending on where posh class is located.

    Neil.

Perhaps if we ask for a head count, all those on the forum who have booked on the Royal Scot for 10th October PM Neil (belle 1)so that we can get an idea of how many there will be.

I have just been looking at The North Wales Coast Railway site and there is a quote from photographer Neil Kennedy who was talking to Bill Andrew on a recent North Wales Coast Express, "Loco Inspector Bill Andrews told me that he has to retire in December as you can't take a medical when you reach 75".
So it looks as if this run could well be Bills last one over Shap. :(

Someone told me about this when I was on 'The Devonian', which was why I decided to do the trip. I've only had him once before on the first of 'The Cambrians'. By the way, there's a beer festival on in the hotel next to Carlisle Citadel the same day as the trip. I'm thinking of filling up on some local ales for an hour, then go sight-seeing if I have any left!

Splendid news. Looks like I'll be joining you although I think I'll give the sightseeing a miss.
Must do my utmost to support the British brewing industry. Hic!

Here are a few more details of the festival from the CAMRA website:

Opening times: Sat 10 October 12pm-4pm; then 5pm-11pm (Ed. I'd get rather worried if I were you if you were still around for the second sitting!).

Admission all sessions: £1 (CAMRA membs)/£3 (non-membs). The ususal thing about a glass and possibly a couple of tokens in the price apply.

    The most important information:

    Venue
    Hallmark Hotel, Court Square, Carlisle

    Directions:
Next door to Carlisle rail station.

Sooo, see you there if I don't see you on the train.

Neil tells me that there at least 12 of us booked on the train with most in the same coach, apart from any in 'posh' class... so hopefully we will meet on board.

The beer festival seems a good way of passing an hour or two, this trip gets better by the day!

As far as numbers of members are concerned I have 12 confirmed but as I posted on the 29th of August I deleted some of the PM's by mistake. I think most members have got back to me again and thanks for that but some may still be on there hols or suchlike as I thought there was a couple more members. I tried PTR a couple of times today but due to being in work I couldn't stay on long enough to get through. I will email tonight and then they will not have to check names against my ref number over the phone as they will already have some of the info to hand before I phone.

    Roll on the 10th... \\:D/

    Neil

    PTR? You mean RTC surely?
Be careful at the beer fest. Did a Marylebone - Derby with 4498 some years ago and we made a festival of our own in the Brunswick Inn. Having such a good time we lost track of time and made the train with seconds to spare after a very rapid dash back to the station. not easy when you're half cut. :)
