I had a run on the 13.45 from Rowsley South, very pleasant. The lady in the buffet said word had got around very quickly about the 8F being used and there were definitely more visitors than normal on a Saturday. One gentleman had turned up to travel behind the 47 and went away unhappy at the prospect of steam.

In context though, thats "one gentleman" unhappy, against "more visitors than normal" who were there for the 8F. Net result more passengers.

You cannot please all the people all of the time....

Had a great day saturday chasing the 8F around, pity it wasn't out today, sunday I would have like to get a bit more footage including some on train footage, maybe next time. As usual on a 1 day trip only got a few photos as I was mainly filming with the cancorder. Photos and film some time this week hopefully, I have a 2 day end of season trip to ffestiniog planned on Tuesday, Wednesday wheather willing, so hard to pradict when I will get my hands on editing the footage.

Back to the 8F, sooner they get it on more runs the better as by fare more of an attraction than anything else on the, only thing that could make it better is pointing it south, hope theyget the turntable in action soon.

I would second that in more wasy than one, should bring in some money as well, could also do more of a challange as I don't think they ever get chance to open here up on the line, seems almost flat all the way, could be wrong, also there always seems to be some restiction (crossing) up ahead. Another reason for pointing south as the best spot is up the top end.

Maybe a trip to KWVR would be nice.

Think being out of ticket may have something to do with it...

Very nice films. I have long believed that Rowsley is an excellent arena for the display of engines going on and off shed.
Further steaming dates for 8624 are:
    October 7, December 5/6 12/13 19/20

Why does the 8F now have a month 'barron' spell. No running for a month yet it is a fine engine... Why not utilise the engine, it is capable of bringing people to the railway so why not use it once or twice more??

    Peak Rail 8F Running Dates

    Dear All,

I have noticed an inaccurate posting relating to 48624 running dates posted by 'sleepermonster'. Please note that the 7th October is a corporate day and the locomotive is in use by a private party. NO running dates for December have been agreed

As the Railways Media Director, I will be posting details of confirmed running dates through this news group once all arrangements have been finalised..

    Thank you and best wishes,

    Tom Tait
    Press and Media Director
    Peak Rail PLC.

Thankfully 48624s boiler ticket runs from May but it is still a crying shame that it has not had more use.
