    Girl Guide 100th Anniversary Express

Taken approaching a dull Whiston Station this morning. Even from a standing start at Huyton, the Scot took the climb with 10 coaches with ease.

By the way, should the thread not be retitled the "Girl Guides 100th Anniversary Express" as clearly it is not the "Yorkshire Scot"? Just a thought.

    Evening all !
Great work in this thread chaps.
Nice to see the Scot out again today, in the cloud and rain, just for a change !
Heres my account of proceedings, about 20 yards further up the hill than Ralph. (caught your cheery wave to Mr Seymour mate !) She went up really well, no drama, cheakily blowing off as she dragged 11 up, despite a bit of a sticky whistle !
For the return i went to Clegg Hall, between Smithybridge and Rochdale, got there 30 early and she appeared before the camera was out of the bag ! Really early, hence the rubbish hand held shot.
Thanks for the update Bobbler mate !

Your spot is better than where I was Matt, you get that better angle and don't lose sight like I did. Nice to get a wave from Albert but I was hoping for a whistle.:(

    Chris,

There is nothing wrong with recording the event. It is called life!
I thought it showed off the double chimney to great effect on the station.
    Well done!

Really interesting how people view clips differently, I thought that is a fabulous bit of film, nicely set with the stills to start with, then being able to hear and see everything going on when the brakes are released and she sets back and then the regulator is heaved open. Even the people on the platform add to the scene, as after all its a busy station and you expect people to be milling around, so makes it seem like a real departure rather than a sterile posed one.Personally I find it a lot more atmospheric and interesting than a lot of the standard views taken in the countryside.
    Well done!!
And I just noticed around 1.04 you can see her wound into reverse and very quickly whipped into forward!!!! I presume you had a little edit there as well, hence the man fading away and the reverser fading into reverse!

Better late than never, here is my offering from Sunday at Sowerby Bridge station in both directions. The time on the video was 18:22 on the return, wasn't supposed to be there at that time!
