What a shame the grass growing between the rails gives the impression she is charging up a siding!

Not a comment on the photo - just a comment on today's railway!

Its a nice location both ways which Ive never been too before but the train it will be coasting on the way back.
But its got problems getting to it - the picture is taken at the footcrossing at Barrow just leaving Whalley. The footpath on os maps show it starting at the "Eagle at Barrow" which has just been rebuilt and they have blocked off the footpath in doing so.(Court action pending I believe to reopen it). I gained access to the footpath by going up an adjacent private road and a nice lady gave me permission to use a gate on her property to join the footpath - here I got wet feet walking through the wet grass to the crossing which is there in excellent condition but no access to it as it stands.
Stupid situation - a crossing being maintained and no access to get to it from one side

    John

beautiful setting sun glow, especially on the 2nd one, absolutely marvelous AN.

I guess John Robinson meant Leander again as opposed to a different engine ,and on a train that sold out all the booked runs I think before the first one ran, this one added later due to high demand. well Hellifield is not so easy to get to by train or road.

Would have been nice to Scots Guardsman or 45231 for a change of engine for once

Some people don't know when they're well off ;-) We get the same thing down south about Tangmere and even, would you believe, Ollie! Sadly, I haven't managed to see Leander yet this year.

what a ridiculous nonsense comment, exactly the same last year when sir lamiel worked most of the dalesman tours people were saying just the same, and now what sir samiel has spent the entire year on the gcr don't see anyone complaining about that, and after all,
leander on the settle & carlisle all summer, how terrible magnificent locomotive on perfect route for that class how shall we survive.

also what has 45231 got to do with anything its not in the pool, and thank goodness 5690 support crew are prepared to work so hard week in week out to allow everyone to enjoy this magnificent locomotive throughout the summer.
