This looks like being an afternoon to be on the S&C, 70013 northbound and 6233 southbound.
Ollie due in Carlisle at 14.00 and 6233 out at 15.00 means not to long a wait up in't hills.

I'm sorry what's your point? I always understood the point of a forum was discussion, which involves getting people to respond.

would of presumed most people would be heading to the tyne valley instead given the comparative rarity of steam on the route, but for myself not being interested in photography or filming ill just be off to carlisle again.

Looking forward to hosting 70013 later that evening...
If you can't make it to see or ride on the tour, come and get up close and personal to Cromwell at Locomotion's 5th Anniversary gala on Sunday 20th!

Nice to meet you the other day Frank, I came to say goodbye, but missed you. The bus was still on the field at 7.15 am the next day when we left with the roller but I guess you were still abed!

Are there two seven o clocks in the day???

Went out in the little black convertible to see the Scot and on to Heaton Park last Sunday, but got a call for details of the location as the son in law was going to take the bus.

five minutes later got a call - no show - flat front nearside!

A quick ten minute run round the M60, and a pit stop change, and two open toppers - one a bit bigger than the other - followed each other to the Trans Lancs!

At least we didn't suffer the fate of Cheshire County Council's 1930's Leyland - we passed it on the hard shoulder at about four thirty, and at eight o clock it was still there, but on a suspended tow with Mansfields, the mechaninc was dropping the prop shaft when I pulled up to make sure everything was OK.

We have now changed the inner tube on that tyre so hopefully - that is that!

See you around, no doubt, and no doubt the younger generation wil be in touch first.

Sheffield auction tomorrow and Neville Hill on Sunday - bit far for an old Leyland though!

Danny - are you watching - its great being vacuous you know!

Tyne Valley just a bit too far, particularly when you have no knowledge of decent locations.
It is the chance to get Ollie in perhaps one of the classic S&C shots, with the bonus of the Duchess shortly after.

Looking at the tour sites I reckon the Duchess will be leaving Hellifield about 11:15/11:30 with Ollie out about 12/12:15, these are very much guestimates.

I thought 6233 was running southbound over the S&C.

Not such a good day to be on the S+C now. 70013's trip has been re-routed so it comes South and doesn't leave Carlisle till 5pm! :-(
With 6233 not leaving till 3pm either i think i'll scrap my plans to go to Ribblehead :-(

I won't be going to Blea Moor either!
Mind you, for anyone spending the morning at York or somewhere up the ECML they'll get 60007 followed by 6233 then 70013!

Oh  still I suppose it means take a barbie and set up camp at Birketts, after all what's a 2 hour wait, it would probably have been longer than that with the original timings.

    Thanks Mark, PM sent.

I've just been looking at the Carlisle to Hellifield times for these two tours, 70013 is allowed 1 hour 40 minutes taking the Appleby water stop out where as 6233 is allowed 2 hours 3 minutes? Yet the York to Carlisle section has a difference of only a few minutes..
