Thanks for the info on the beer festival. With a title like mine you can imagine where I'll make for.

Just think what the public will say..

Question from the public at Preston station when 6233 arrives...

Public: "here mate whats going on ?

Enthusiast staggering from the carriage says: "ave been riding a Duchess to Carlilse to see a hic.. Tornado"

Public to his mate... : "Pi__ed up old f__ts, next thing he'll say the trains not moving but the building is...

Enthusiast then says: "Ar actually yes there's a Castle coming down"

Public..."time to go home, he's that drunk he think's about to see the earth move."

Nothing wrong with a bit of 'water' to service the boiler- if Duchess needs it, then why not? After all, it is but a liquid lunch, whereby one stares into the brass-bright depths of that brown, incandescent liquid, which sloshes around the top of the glass when it is lifted; the froth settling on the upper lip as the beer slides into the mouth (enough of waxing lyrical about a pint of beer. Anyway, thanks to Dylan Thomas for the 'brass-bright' bit, and I think I ought to become advertising officer for M&S!)... By the way, I think I'm classified as a 'young fart'.

Don't they have a waiting list to take up any slack if there are last minute cancellations ?

Not surprised there. I just had a check on the RTC website, and there are only three seats remaining on the whole train. Its beginning to remind me of "The Devonian" earlier this year!

Neil should have the head count but I believe it was about a dozen last time he was on.

I'm more than likely going to be in a different carriage, as I'm with a mate who has booked separately, and we are trying to see if we get put together again on this tour (it has happened twice already with PTR and RTC, so third time lucky as well?). Just let me know what carriage you chaps are in, and I may pop down for a natter about the superiority of Bulleids, the comfort of Maunsell carriages and the benefits of a Queen Mary bogie brake van... or maybe just a natter! If not, there's always the beer festival...

I'll be at the front sound recording in one direction, unless I can sweet talk my way into posh class for the other leg as well. More than happy to chat about Mr. Bulleid's finest at the beerfest though.

You actually intend to talk Bulleid at a beerfest in Carlisle when there are two tours in, one hauled by Mr Staniers finest and the other, Mr Peppercorns best effort....

I'm going somewhere else for my drink.. :smt039

Wasn't me specifically I was thinking about, it's all the other LMS/LNER supporters who might be a little upset by the fact that there was a discussion about of that man Mr B in the midlle of a celebration of Stanier and Peppercorn. :D
