Dont be patronising, and have you accepted that I am not grumpy about the eastleigh works episode?

I am very interested in getting involved with the swanage railway, however comments like you made just persuade me not to get involved. Likewise, I do know that what I said was fairly poorly communicated. However, in my defence, I do empathise with the railway for having 34070 failed.

Turning out to be like last years gala for the bluebell, lots of locos failing. But it is not the railways fault, and it it a shame it has to happen to the bluebell or indeed anyone.

    Perhaps 850 for gos?

Time and place eh LN850?? YOu have to remember that as far as the Bluebell or any railway goes that getting any loco to a railway at short notice is a no go area?? 850 could be going mainline and could be ready for service trains on the MHR??? Not going to happen from where I am...

850 is a little too delicate for the Bluebell.

What I meant by that was I read somewhere that they might try and get another visitor. Only speculating, thats all. Anyway, ERPS guy told me there were no immediate plans for 850 to go mainline.

I wasnt being very serious, I know that short notice is a no go area.

Don,t be so sensitive Chris lighten up for heavens sake, I put myself into the same mould you know, non of us are perfect as we all have a cross to bear.

Or have been brainwashed by the piffle that is around the Bluebell?.

I was down at HK today with Graham Ward , I have never seen so many long faces down there , ever.

    Regards

It appears that LN850 is far more delicate than the locomotive 850.

I am not 'delicate' as you put it twr12, it just annoyed me that you came up with the idea that I bear a grudge with the swanage railway. Just telling me what was happening with the swanage locos would have been enough.

Anyway this thread has had enough bitching. Lets get back onto the subject of what is happening with regard to Giants of steam. Anything new to report?

In the absense of motive power and to settle the apparent differences that exist as an alternative form of entertainment to GOS may i suggest (very tongue in cheek) the following

Those who have axes to grind from the MHR / Bluebell/ Swanage with each other - (s) railway perhaps meet in the field by HK station and resolve those differences for the benefit of us all . I'll leave others to suggest what route that resolution may take.

Well, a good, old fashioned "duel" would appear to be a great way of "recreating the past"!

    Sorry, I'll get my coat!

Everyone was happy enough when I was at the Bluebell on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. It's surprising what effect some individuals can have on others! ;-)

    A Note from the website:

We regret that, due to a mechanical fault, 30777 'Sir Lamiel' is unable to visit the Bluebell. Because of this, the event is being re-cast - please be patient as we work thought the planning of revised attractions, but be assured that it is still very much our intention to put on a good show over that weekend. We hope to have finalised details of the event available at some time this coming Sunday.

In other news, the wheelset from the U is expected back Friday from South Devon where a replacement crank pin was fitted. Hopefully (and heres hoping!) she'll be ready in time.

Such a shame. 30777 was one locomotive I've had difficulties trying to see, and was looking forward to finally meeting its acquaintance at the Bluebell. No matter, there's always 34059, which I have not seen since 2003.

Good to here Tom, seeing as it is Bluebell I'm sure she will be ready in time.
I remember at Branch Line Weekend they got 592 sorted early so she could urn with 65 Saturday evening, which was great, although I didn't know until they both speed through HK passed my train I was on!
Still looking forward to the weekend whatever happens.

I too am disappointed at 30777's failure. I missed it last December, it didnt come to Eastleigh100 and now its not coming to the bluebell. When will we next get it down south?

I have really wanted to see it, as it is a southern icon.
