Good thought actually, but relying on Public tranport and not having a job, I think I'll wait a bit.

Anyway, if i did have the recources to get out and about with railways more, I would be helping restoring waggons at Medstead.

Injection of sense of humour etc... I'm not getting involved in anyway shape of form!

Back to the subject.. So does anyone think any replacement will be set for the gala?

I hope a replacement can be arranged in time but I'll be attending none the less so I can ride behind 34059 for the first time.

Sadly it doesn't look like it. I rang the Bluebell this morning and they said there would be no guest loco.

I'm sure the railway will put on a good show, knowing the organisers I'm sure it will be a good weekend with something different from the norm.
Still well worth a visit, full details to be announced soon.
And if you do visit Sunday do make sure you're not 1 hour early....enjoy that extra hour in bed. (The reason why the Loco Dept. have their party on that Saturday night ;-))

    Regards,

    Dave G

Shame but I suppose the Bluebell will keep us updated but as I said I'll still be attending.

Details on the website now, looks to be a homefleet gala with 34059, 80151, 1638 (should be ready in time), 9017, 592 and 672. 473 will not be ready it seems. 4 train service, 9017 on freight and 672 doing brake van rides.

Giants page on the website has now re-appeared, the gala being more of a "Bluebell on Parade" event with all available locomotives in steam (34059, 9017, 592, 80151, 672 and 1638 if repairs completed in time). 9017 will feature on a Goods on the Saturday and Sunday, carriages arranged in appropriate sets (Maunsell, Bulleid, Mk1 and Pullman). And also much more...

Thanks Tom for the info. It still looks a very good event and 1638, if completed in time, will look great with the 3 Maunsell carriages and likewise 34059 with the Bullied set. It's really good to see that 9017 is to be hauling a goods train, let's hope it's the engineers wagons and yes I've done the correct thing this time and I've e-mailed Neil Glasken just now to ask if there is still any possibility if the loco could be without nameplates for the Gala to save another debate on here about it all. So let's hope for some good weather next week and a successful gala despite the lose of 30777.

    Cheers

Couldnt the 3 maunsell coaches be attached to the SECR 100 seater and LBSC first class coach which are both in Maunsell livery and with a Southern luggage van? They seem to have been forgotten and would look great.

Sounds as though it's going to be a good event!

(edit:- the website doesn't give details of fares for this event. It does give fares for the other October events)

    Regards

Don't forget the Milk tank in all that little lot! That would be a really nice looking train.

Still looks like a very good event despite the loss of 30777. My Father and I will still probably come as we are yet to see 34059 since she has been restored and I really want to see 9017 in BR livery. The brake van rides are very tempting too.

Isn't that getting a bit too "rainbow" like for certain people, though?
