Not so sure - it's not as though there's a lack of good locations for the southbound stuff!

But only one southbound run is in daylight as opposed to both northbound departures.

Yeah I guess that does literally cut your opportunities by 50%. I think the forecast will limit things even further though as the week goes on...

I assume there is a shunt diagrammed to put the two carmine and cream Mk1s on the northbound end of the teak stock when the loco is turned...?

Could have gone to the SVR on Sunday of course except I was helping out on a sales stand at the Bluebell. Not the end of the world if I only get one shot of 60163 on the SVR and there's always the chance of some N2 thrash if that's working a full line diagram as opposed to the shuttle. As you say, the weather will be the decider.

    Tornado pics

Hi spent Monday on the SVR. Got a few shots from several locations! Its some machine is Tornado but in my opinion its a bit too large for the railway! Still I hope it brings the crowds in this week! The N2, Erlestoke and the Mogul did the business as usual!

Particularly liked the shots near Bewdley Tunnel. Nice lighting.

Glad you liked them! Are you the chap I spoke to while waiting outside the gates at Quorn and Woodhouse at the GCR Early on the Saturday morning? Heavy metal Gala weekend? I was in a VW camper van with bleary eyes having just woke up!
If you are that chap. I hope you did well with the stall!

I wasn't there until the Sunday so it was probably my mate Mike you spoke to. Was a reasonably successful event fund raising wise thanks.

Not sure when it was proposed to turn 60163, but on Wednesday it was still facing smokebox to Bridgnorth, and in glorious sunshine there were plenty of "galleries" of you photographers along the line!

Looking at the current forecast for Sunday it looks as though it won't matter which way 60163 faces on Sunday. Heavy rain and strong winds. Should make photography interesting. :) Hopefully the weather man is wrong.

    Well thank you.

I chased it to Eardington, the light was awesome when I got there. Unfortunately the train was late so by the time it arrived it was virtually dark!

I hope Ronald would approve (apologies for the private joke!)

Sorry for asking a very simple question but what do you mean when you say 'rods down'?

The connecting rods are at '6 o'clock' or at the bottom of the wheels. There are some who believe that unless the rods are in this position then the picture should be binned...though how you're meant to guarantee that at 75mph or even on occasions 25mph is beyond me! Cracking shot by the way.

Check the position of the coupling rods. When they are at or near the bottom of their cycle it's known to photographers as "rods down."

The forecast for Sunday has improved and the afternoon could be half decent - not that I trust the Met Office - so does anyone know which trains the N2 will be working?

went behind Tornado on thursday and rather enjoyed it. didnt get many pictures due to the huge numbers of people who crowded the loco whenever it stopped. Had a look on the footplate last night when it was on shed at Bewdley as didnt get a chance on thursday.
