Of the 4 survivng Std 4 2-6-0's we have:

76079 in running order, mainline certified and now owned by the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.
76017 being dismantled for overhaul at the Mid Hants.
76084 progressing well at Morpeth in the hands of the 76084 Locomotive Company Ltd and destined to be based at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

Does anyone know what the future holds for 76077 on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway?

She'll be dismantled and made into several GWR locos (Dont give people ideas!)

how about converting her into a standard 3 mogul, new boiler and cylindes needed and would fill a gap in the heritage scene.

    Standard 4 tank !!!!

She should be a very useful engine and deserving of restoration in her own right . We have the skills now to build a standard 3 from scratch (one for the 82045 group once complete !)

The Glos-Warks website simply shows this engine as "Ex-Barry, awaiting restoration".As Sidmouth says above, a useful engine in its own right for Heritage railway use.

Presumably it is up to the owner(s) to decide what to do with it.

46118 you are right. To my knowledge, nothing much has happened to 76077 for some time. However, with the 84045 Group adding patterns and new standard components almost on a daily basis plus other Standard owning groups with patterns etc, there isn't much to stop 76077 being rebuilt as a useful loco for the GWR (see the other thread about me not knowing that they did indeed run on the Honeybourne Line occasionally!). The 2 things that are preventing it being restored at the moment are likely to be the same two things that stop most people from doing what they want to do: lack of funding and lack of skilled and semi-skilled expertise.

I seem to remember the owner or owners of 35006 own 76077 and I recall reading on another thread that after 35006 is overhauled they will start work on 76077.

76077 is owned by one person, not a group.

std tank, thanks, that's what I always understood the situation to be. I also understood that the 35006 Group might (and I use that word carefully) be involved in restoring 76077 once 35006 was complete. However that was years ago. It would be great to see the 76xxx run again and I'm sure it will sometime.

I to would love to see 76077 running again and would certainly be prepared to get involved and get my hands dirty.

This would be perfect loco for the GWSR, I imagine its the perfect size for the line. A tender loco, but not one that chomps coal for fun!
