It's that time of the year again, and as no-one else has started a thread on what we will have to look forward to next year, I guess I might as well, even though I'm not "in the know" regarding quite a few loco's/lines. I'll just put down what I'm aware of and let others fill in the gaps.

Anyway, before we get on to 2010, I think I'm right in saying we have three engines due to steam again before this year is out:-

    47406 (first time)
    B473
    44871.

As for 2010. steaming for the first time in preservation we should have
    178 (P class)
    2807
    45379
with a chance they could be joined by
    34053
    35006

Going main line but already restored:
    6100
34046 (I presume? It's all gone a bit quiet recently)

    Returning to steam after overhaul:-
    W24 Calbourne
55 Stepney - although not a thorough overhaul
    323 Bluebell
    31806
    44767
    44932
    45337
45428 (it's sure going to be a good year for "Black Five" fans!)
    CR 828
    1572 (i.e. the B12)

OK everyone, I hope no mistakes, but plenty of omissions. What else do we have to look forward to? Over to you.

    Add to that:

Returning to steam after overhaul: BEATRICE (Hunslet 16") (15 years out of traffic)

Steaming for the first time in preservation: ILLINGWORTH (Hudswell Clarke, ex-Nidd Valley Light Railway)

There are several others at a slightly less advanced stage which we hope to see next year, but for now we'll leave it at that.

How's 6634 coming along at the Severn Valley? Seem to recall the initial announcement made reference to the fleet being boosted by 1 in 2010, so presumably this is the target?

Also RSH Austerity 7169 formally known as 68005 will be returning to steam in Feb/March to operate the Pontypool and Blaenavon Railways 2010 timetable. She will be restored into a more correct livery and carry its WD number 71515.

GWR Collett Goods 'Baby Castle' 3205 should be reappearing at the South Devon Railway mid season next year. We all look forward to seeing the sole survivor back back on the branch.

7828 Odney Manor and 6960 Raveningham Hall should both be back from overhaul in 2010 and in steam at the WSR.

Not sure if 80080 is likely to be ready in time?

Then there is the B12 and possibly the Y7? What about 4472?

Perhaps even both Y7's! The one at Middleton should be shunted into the workshops on Wednesday, if all goes to plan. It doesn't need too much doing to it (famous last words....!)
