I thought steam out of Euston wasn't allowed anymore. Still should be a great sight to be seen.

I think it's just steam INTO Euston that banned as it would set off the smoke alarms under the roof, fine for departing from the country end as long as you can get a path.

I'd imagine to save on paths that the 47 taking the ECS into Euston would stay on the back initially, so will probably climb the bank with the equivelant of about load 13/14.

...unless the loco is Flying Scotsman and the train is the VSOE - but, as you say,, steam INTO Euston is not allowed for mere mortals.

...with the possible exception that 60019 is currently booked INTO Euston on the final leg of GBIII. Guess we will wait to see what happens.

Anyway back on topic. I agree that the Princess trip is one to do next year, and here was me thinking I'd just be doing GWR175 tours.

When Pathfinder ran steam out of Euston on Friday afternoons a few years ago to Manchester and Liverpool the loco that brought in the empties remained in the platform when the steam departed so there was no loco on the back up Camden Bank. However with this train I would imagine 47 773 will be attached to the back all the way from Crewe to London and back. Given the date of running is 6 March 2010 train heat is likely to be required and unfortunately Lizzie cannot heat the train as its support coach has no through steam pipe and Tyseley have no generator coach. The support coach could put on the back of the train at Crewe to overcome the problem but I doubt this will happen.

I'm booking a week Wednesday, Ralph. My erstwhile railway companion Brian should be on this one too. Hell, we might even end up in the same carriage again (I hear the groans of despair!) ;).

How romantic! Nah, steerage all the way with what Ar... sorry, a 'popular high-street catalogue store' is paying me at the moment. Anyway, I think I'll order them tomorrow, might as well get them chalked up as early as possible.

According to UK Steaminfo, West Coast are providing the stock, so there may be a chance that a generator car will be fitted. However, I suspect that after arriving at Kensington Olympia, 'Lizzie' will be going to Southall for servicing by way of Acton Wells Junction. For this to happen, it'll have to reverse all the way back to Southall, so its a safe bet that a diesel will be in tow.

Anyway, booked me tickets just now, so NatPres 2010 trip here we come!

The stock will be the usual Vintage Trains rake (TY01) so more likely that 47773 (or 580) will provide heat.
