I would think it is unlikely, that it is Steam both ways.

Steam Dreams have only just started running to York with Steam both ways, because of Tornado's increased water capacity. They only use to run Steam on the return.

It might be part of a positioning move, so it could be : -

    KX - Newcastle - York

    or

    York - Newcastle - KX

Looks as if Western have got there mits on the Cardiff/Swansea.Don't think it will be going to Swansea now.Not enough time.Thought I might get a good do from London to Swansea on the main in each direction. Now it just not worth the bother.
I wonder if they would have changed it if it was on a Weekend.Probably me thinks.

i see steam dreams have added a tour to Norwich from london on sunday 29 August 2010 hauled by Oliver Cromwell, I hope next year isnt going to be a repeat of this year where the only steam loco visiting Norwich all year on railtours is Oliver Cromwell apart from an A4 at xmas... Cromwell is a nice loco an all and it was based at Norwich at one point, but please can we have somthing different for a change >.<

Whilst variety is the spice of life, we should think ourselves lucky that we get steam on the main line in the first place. I the choice is same loco again or no steam at all, I know where my vote will go. You've got 60019 coming to Norwich in December.

I think you will find that VT operate a few more trains than just one Shakespeare Express per week. There are a bunch of mainline weekend excursions in addition. 2010 looks to have quite a few exciting trips. Seem to be a few involving Didcot / Swindon this year - I wonder why..... GWR175 maybe? lol

They did switch from 5043 to Albert/Rood Ashton Hall (it will be interesting to see which name it is displaying!) for this weekend's trip, but I believe all the punters were notified - I know I was!

With mounting expense of main line steam locos being maintained to ever increasing requirements, and people generally feeling poorer these days, we may have to get used to a smaller pool of locos. Let's not moan!

The 30th September Cathedrals Express to Newcastle with Bittern, is on the 75th Anniversary of the inaugural run, of "The Silver Jubilee".

If I was wondering where to spend my hard earned cash on steam tours next year, I'd be keeping a very close eye on the Vintage Trains website over the next few weeks.
    GWR 175....'nuff said.;)

For those who haven't seen UK Steam and the 2010 Tour programme would have noticed that The Cambrians have been pencilled in to run from Monday 26th July to Friday 3rd September, running to Pwllheli on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The motive power has yet to be decided and probably won't hear anything till later on in the next few months.

Sutherlands coming back, but is going black!

Having just read the latest issue of railway herald on news that the PRCLT has been granted an extra 8 month extension to its boiler, a decision has been made to repaint for the new year and forthcoming mainline tours.

Take a look for yourselves on page 20.

Wouldn't it be great if 60019 could be done up as 2509 for this run.

What about replica name plate, smoke box number plate and transfers, so it is 60014 for the day?
