    Hi folks:

Sometime soon it is intended to restore the the "Dance Hall" that we have in store, and it got me thinking how many of these vehicles are left.

I know the Bluebell have one which is currently out of traffic and Southern Locomotives are doing a protracted resoration also on the Bluebell and we at the the Mid-Hants have number three.

    Anymore out there please?

    Best regards
    Chris

As it happens, I know of another one. Unfortunately, I am not sure I am at liberty to say where it is! I will check on that, and post if it's ok!

I've just come across another one of these I forgot to list first time round.
55494 SR 25t Brake 'Dance Hall' Prestongrange Mining Museum G Lancing 1926 [1560]

This looks to be in a poorly condition and had some kind of conversion in the past, tool van possibly?

That does look poorly. I'm assuming this no longer exists or moved on from the K&ESR. The one at Prestongrange does have some bodywork. Both the verandah's are sealed.

Prestongrange Mining Museum has a website; a few railway items sneak into the pictures, e.g.

    http://www.prestongrange.org/tour/5.html
    http://www.prestongrange.org/tour/7.html
    http://www.prestongrange.org/tour/8.html
    http://www.prestongrange.org/tour/9.html
    http://www.prestongrange.org/tour/prestongrange.pdf

From which I can see at least five standard gauge and one (maybe two) narrow gauge open wagon(s), plus the brake van which sneaks into a photo on the PDF flyer. One of the standard gauge wagons is obviously a 16T mineral wagon.

Well, if I'm ever up that way I'll have a look. I'm not actively looking for any more wagons at present, I have quite enough restoration projects to keep me busy for a while!

The van is still at KESR, hopefully now ownership issues have been sorted out restoration might move onto the agenda.

    Hi Phil
Looking at the snippet from the pdf shot it looks like they've done an enormous amount of work on it compared to an old pic I noticed a while ago! I suppose this means it'll not be going anywhere soon?
6S1001, do you know the I/d of the one at the K&ESR? I have no record or sighting from several recent reports of this being there?

Wrong! Its still there but not in a normally visible location. The only change that I can recall is that a small tree was growing in it. That said, I believe there are plans for it next year.

It seems that no-one is really sure of its identity. The best bet at the moment is the hope that it will be found somewhere on the underframe once the restoration starts.

Cheers. At least 'once restoration starts' is good!
Did the SECR hammer stamp the frame? It could of course be a later SR built example?
