Yes she was on the shovel ALL the way! As we were running the bunker down for loading that night at BL, we were down to mainly dust on Crowcombe bank so she was 'head down and a*** up' !!!

Reported (and photographic evidence on SVR on-line forum, thanks Sharpo) that 6695 in traffic today on SVR Santa trains. Thanks to all at SVR involved in getting the engine ready.

Yes saw it on shed this evening at Bewdley, Guess that tomorrow (and someone will correct me if wrong!) that 6695 and 7812 will be working the first two trains off Kiddie (7812 was on the Limited tonight).

Any chance anyone has list of 6695s BR allocations? Many thanks.

Saw it on Saturday at Kiddy, and very at home it looked too.

I think it was a Landore (87E) engine throughout the 1950s until 6/61 when Landore was closed for rebuilding. From 6/61 to 10/63 it was at Neath (87A), and finally at Cardiff Radyr (88A) until withdrawal in 7/64.

The data on that site is patchy. For example try looking up 30777 'Sir Lamiel' - nothing.

Even when data exists there it is only a snapshot.

As posted elsewhere, working every day until 3 January. A useful engine indeed

Your info on the allocations is correct but wasn't Radyr recoded to 88B by that time? We have an 88B shedplate which we might use at sometime.

Glad to know '95 is proving useful to the SVR (despite someone's comments about shade of green paintwork and various details! Unfortunately time & money doesn't run to a repaint this winter, more important work to do) she obviously does have some fans, thanks Patrick.

I speak personally, but I'm delighted and thank you for providing her! I hear she's having maintenance at Bridgnorth during Jan/Feb while the line is 'cut'?

Richard ["C Wall"], have an enjoyable day with her tomorrow!

Yes she's having some work done including attention to piston valves, suspect we may have some cracked rings. We are still in discussion with SVR regarding other possible jobs. Engine should then return to SVR traffic, staying until mid-April before going home to Swanage.

Had a very pleasant trip behind 6695. Can add that to the list of other taffy tanks I 've had on the line now :)

5619, 5637, 5643, 6619 and 6695 have all ran on the line in preservation with 6634 to come. I don't think any other railway has ran so many different members of the class as the SVR. A very suitable class for the SVR and 6695 is a shining example.

Hopefully with Bridgnorth dealing with the rest of the locomotive and Crewe doing the boiler, 6634 will be in service on the SVR before too long. I havn't seen a timescale, but lets hope for a 2010 entry into service.
Images on the SVR Engineering website back in October showed progress on a number of fronts to bring the engine back into operation.
