I understand that a class 108 dmu has suffered a fire, which was put out , but the unit may be writen off due to the damage that was caused.

When I arrived at the SVR yesterday I was surprised that the DMU was not in service. The services were hauled by 42968 and 7812. <BJ>

Severn Valley Railway - DMU fire

Before this gets too out of hand can I give you all the details about the DMU on the SVR...

There was no fire, a cable in 59250 smoldered a bit due to ice blocking a water pump to the bar equipment, the train was at Kidderminster station and it was decided to de-train passenger into the station as the train would not proceed as planned.

Five cars are servicable, but are not being used for the planned X timetable while a precautionary check is made on the electrics. There is minimal damage to 59250 and will just require a replacement pump and cable to bring it back into service again, and a wipe-down of the wall where the cable was.

It is very easy for these things to get blown out of proportion.
