Suppose this is now so common place,it hardly merits a thread but she really did look superb blasting through Chilworth today. No diesel on the back and 12 on including a very smart choc & cream generator car on the back which I can't recall having seen before. Fewer people around at Shalford than normal, presumably due to the pretty vile weather.

All of which makes me think I must find the money to book on one of the non-VSOE trips shes doing this year...

If there was no diesel I would have loved to see her up Gomshall Bank, that would be a sight to see.

Hmmm. No diesel, I wonder why not. Usually get one in the winter?

Didn't go out to photo the train. Weather was lousy. At least it was here in Mid Kent.

Maybe because it had a generator car in the formation?

the 67 usually on the back usually gives it a shove up Gomshall, which with 3 support vehicles and 9 pullmans would be challenging to say the least without a diesel

Matt, just to correct you the 67 does NOT usually assist up Gomshall or anywhere else, come to that, except to assist out of Victoria.
35028 is quite capable of working 550/600 ton trains unassisted.
Hope this info clears up a few misconceptions.

The 67 was definitely pushing earlier this month when we had the snow. You can hear it and just make out the smoke in my video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K80R5-P0pgs but snow can be quite another matter. I recall the Merchant Venturer now, was it Sapperton? with 13 + 67 with only one or two slips.

Who says Bulleids can't climb hills. Except me because I rather implied it in my earlier post ;-)

Edit. Is this a 67 at idle being dragged along in my other video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXI53tCapEI

The 67 also provides power for the train heat, and when it does, the engine works noticeably harder than when it is just idling.
