Last autumn, Bachmann produced a blue Stephenson Clarke version of 3650 for their collectors club.
This has led us to thinking.... I believe no one has yet produced an 8750 pannier with the wartime roundel. There's certainly not a roundel 8750 available currently, although I believe a 64xx was produced a while ago.

We are enquiring about commissioning an exclusive batch. Knowing the interest we had in the blue version at the Railway Centre, we know how many we could have produced and sell successfully without venturing into advertising in the modelling arena. Just wondered what the interest might be from the modelling fraternity as the roundel version is not likely to be as popular as say the BR, GWR or the Great Western version?
It would sell exclusively through the shop at Didcot, but include mail & internet order. Profits split between the Society and 3650.

I'm also investigating the possibility of a lined blue 6023, maybe to co-inside with the launch.

I welcome thoughts on both projects.

As space dictates N gauge rather than 00, I probably wouldn't be getting either for running purposes, (unless of course the boys force a change of thinking!), however I might be tempted to get a blue 6023 for collection/display purposes. Don't know if that helps or not!

Just to show I'm not anti pannier (not least because I remember about a big spanner being kept on board for those making rude comments about 3650!) I was very tempted by the blue 3650 but wasn't a member of the collectors club and similarly would only be able at present to get one for display rather than running. I nearly got one anyway just for my eldest who still refers to 3650 as "the one that was blue"!

Now if you can do a deal with Dapol to do a N gauge one of either/both, then I'm in!

  3. Count me in for a blue King :)

im sure a 64XX would be a good seller, somethingother than a 14XX to run on an Autotrain, unless you have the fortune to have a correct numbered 55XX.

  6. Or you could renumber an incorrectly-numbered one yourself? Plenty of decal manufacturers out there and instructions on how to do it. Alternatively a lot of places offer a commercial renumbering service.

Possible but you'd be stretching reality a little if you took an 'Auto Prarie' far from a South Wales based layout if your rigid for authenticity, 64XX's were more numerous (Than Auto Praries, not the whole 55XX class) and a little more widespread.
