An excellent newsletter appeared in the mail today printed on high quality paper. It reminds members that make donations (regular & occasional) that they need to complete and return the form at the back of the Newsletter for the charity to be able to reclaim the tax. If you are a member and are reading this, please bare this in mind as it will make a real difference to the available funding.

Another interesting snippet was that they are now starting to think about the first of the major expensive components, the driving wheels. £10k each ! Gulp

Glad you liked the letter Pesmo, the high quality paper was a surprise to me too- I didn`t ask for it. Maybe we have a supporter at the printer!

The wheels are indeed a big GULP! It could have been worse though- at least we have the pattern, courtesy of Brian Oldford. The copper for the inner firebox and tubeplate was our first major expensive component (purchased last spring) and could have been more expensive than the wheels if we hadn`t" swooped" on a bargain.

Just in case anyone hasn't looked recently, the membership application form, printable from the website, does now have a Giftaid declaration thereon.

You are applying for membership of "The 82045 Steam Locomotive Trust".

Despite the admin side hiccups last year by outside agencies, (bank and errant postie) this is a well organised and realistic operation that deserves our ongoing support.

Envelope for you Tuesday's post Barbara!

Membership of the Trust brings with it a rather nice and eminently frameable membership certificate, and as Pesmo mentions above, a twice-yearly newsletter, alongside the regularly-updated website.

A date for your diary is the Trust's AGM on Saturday 10th April, at 11-00 am upstairs in the Kidderminster Railway Museum, and as far as I am aware anyone interested in the 82045 project can attend, not just members.

The AGM is promised to be an interesting one, with plenty to talk about.

Please download the membership application from the 82045 website, and do please join us!

To be strictly correct the new AGM is a requirement of our company status which we became almost a year ago. This was a part of the procedure to apply for charitable status.
We have, for several years` held an annual meeting which members have been attending. The last one in September 2009 was particularly well attended.

Just looking at that nice piccy of a standard 3 Tank on the Heritage Railway MAG website, that loco is just pleading for a copper chimney cap... you know it makes sense.

No apaologies neccessary - just a thought, GW Pattern boiler, picking up the standard batton where Evening Star left off (unless Hengist gets there first) etc and if there was a criticism of BR stds it is that they lacked a bit of sparkle..good luck.
