Looking at the updated Steam Dreams dates page it appears 70013 will not work out of Weymouth again. She missed the trip last year, being replaced by 34067. This year 70013 is working down into Weymouth but the return run is diesel hauled from Weymouth to Yeovil with 70013 returning the trip to London from Yeovil. I guess there must some sort of gauging problem only in one direction? Otherwise I find it a bit odd that on the most entertaining part of the run up the bank out of Weymouth they are using a diesel.

More likely the time and/or lack of paths to & from Yeovil? for turning

Seems a little strange as the trip for 9th July is still shown as returning via Wareham and Poole DH

Nice if it was a 37,standard at the front,Upwey/Bincombe bank :p

Whatever happens it will still be the most entertaining part of the trip *Ducks for cover*

Ah but would the 37 get up the bank? I remember someone telling me about the slow journey back from Swanage they had after the run down with 34067 in the morning. The Class 37 struggled on the return run and lost time.

with the swanage railway so close, would it have not been possible to have ran the train over two week ends steam out, return by a couple of 73,s and the following week reversed it, the steam engine could have been turned during the week ready for the return run? would that have made more sence after all you get the best of both worlds steam haulage and heritige southern ed's working passinger which are now rare i take it the ed's are still passinger rated ?
With the ammount of steam work on 3rd rail routes i am suprised that West Coast didnt purchase some of the fragonset 73's for use down in the south

Personally i think thats a load of tosh about it struggling,it had easily enough power, the train was heavy and lets not forget its a 37/7 'Heavyweight' how it would fare with Bincombe is another thing but it managed with NO hassle whatsoever on Parkstone, just walked it,the pace was very sedate it has to be said on the level stretches, maybe there was something wrong, but it certainly wasn't power related,i was in the front window for that and the vid is here to prove how it fared....

I would imagine it will be 47245 or w/e is at Southall anyway? But enough of that,we are supposed to be talking about 70013!
